Sample Tryouts

Happy New Year BIC members.  I am starting this topic to get opinions on how samples have worked out for you.  Did you like them or not.
Talk about color, texture, appearance, scent etc.

This is not to speak about if you did or didn’t receive the samples you chose.

I received the sample card for DIOR Dior Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation it included a trial of their new Forever Glow Veil primer and 8 samples of their shades.  I chose to try the primer and shade 1N Neutral.
The primer was very slippery and covered my skin easily.   It was still a little tacky when I applied the foundation sample.  The sample was so soft and smooth.  Almost liquidy.    It covered smoothly and its so lightweight.  The coverage was light but the primer helped in covering some pores and texture. The foundations finish I expected would be very glowing and shiny.   But it was not.  It was more smooth than I expected.

I like both the primer and feel and finish of the foundation.  The color seemed a good match for a sample card

Re: Sample Tryouts

Today I used the sample card from HUDABEAUTY.   This is the Easy Blur Natural Airbrush Foundation

This foundation contains Niacinamide 1.5%.
It describes itself as a weightless, comfortable, buildable blur. It comes in 29 shades.

The card contains 10 sample colors.  I mixed Creme Brûlée 150G and Toasted Coconut 240N. I applied Rare Beauty primer beforehand. There was enough in the samples for a swipe on my cheek to neck.  I put a little on visible pores.  I used one entire sample on my visible pores.

The texture is creamy and soft. However the areas of my face that had the samples , felt very dry after 4 hours. But neither immediately after nor after 4 hours did I notice any blurred effects.

If I really wanted to consider this foundation I would need more of a sample to try.  As I didn’t see any blurred effects from the sample in the card and the small amount seemed to dry out on my face.  Was it the sample in that card? Or is it really the foundation itself.

Re: Sample Tryouts

D'ior really knows how to impress us, don't they? @Cissy63

I went in store over the summer and asked for a sample of

Supergoop! 100% Mineral Bright-Eyed Eye Cream SPF 40 0.5 oz/ 15 mL

I thought maybe it would be a nice idea and make spf in thst area of my face easier.

The product had a nice consistency, not too heavy and absorbed well for an SPF.

I ended up not purchasing due to the price. I already spend $$ on my spf, getting something especially for the eye area just wasn't financially feasible at the end of the day.

Re: Sample Tryouts

@CynthieLu  Supergoop sure makes a good spf product.  But I understand the price point is $$$ !

Re: Sample Tryouts

They do know their spf's and make them good @Cissy63.

I would buy Unseen and Glowscreen in a heart beat but I just can't justify the seperate spf for the eye area.

Ooh an lip spf, I'm fully into that. I just wish there were ones here that didn't have any sort of under taste

Re: Sample Tryouts

That sounds like a great experience @CynthieLu  i live in a very cold climate so I never really thought of sunscreen till BIC I’m going to try super goop eventually it looks fantastic ❤️

Re: Sample Tryouts

I heard someone say once The best spf is the one you'll wear @peculiarzmakeup I think no matter what one you end up with, just getting into the habit of using it daily is such a great idea. I wish I had started younger tbh

Re: Sample Tryouts

I really love that saying and it’s so true! I think it’s a great motivator to have one that is really a good fit. Thank you for sharing that piece of advice I really needed to hear that 🙂 and i think it’s great wherever you started the journey will continue on, I’ve heard great things about this brand I wonder if they sample it. I’ll have to try 🙂 @CynthieLu

Re: Sample Tryouts

That's really good advice too. Thank you. 💕 Whenever we start the journey is totally fine. I'm very happy I'm doing a consistent spf now. You know, next time your in a Sephora you can totally ask them to make a sample of a sunscreen your interested in trying. I think try before you buy is really important before investing. It's your hard earned dollars. Thou, I do sometimes still feel nervous asking I know it's worth trying it out ahead of time. @peculiarzmakeup

I think there's a thread about it to. I'm going to try to find it for you. 🔍

Re: Sample Tryouts

Thank you so much, I appreciate it, and of course and I saw thank you 💕 @CynthieLu

Re: Sample Tryouts

@Cissy63 - Have you looked at the Love At First Sample!!! 🥰 thread?

I have this sample card, but keep forgetting to use it. 😄  I have and love the matte version of this foundation (in 0N), so I'm hoping the glow version will be equally as great.

I also had a separate deluxe sample of the primer, which I liked, but not well enough to purchase.

You look lovely! 😍  Will this be a future purchase?

Re: Sample Tryouts

@Titian06  I put it on my list!  As I go through the year and use my current foundation’s, I may need to replace some!  My idea is to consider the sample itself.  Did it give you enough information and product to really make a decision.  I’m

Re: Sample Tryouts

Happy new year @Cissy63  I really love this idea for a thread thank you so much for stating it! I think this I will be so useful! Samples are always so helpful in my experience in product selection ❤️

This sample looks amazing on you I do think it’s a good color!
