Welcome to the 2021 Pan It Challenge !!
HUGE round of applause for the 2020 Panners ๐๐พ๐๐พ๐๐พ Despite an incredibly hectic year I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of you who spent even a second thinking about your projects. It was a huge inspiration for me and I'm sure others as well. Cannot wait to see your new projects and whatever this year has in store for us!
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started (please share the following)

.... and for good measure,
@ElleElleG, reading about and seeing your progress on your palettes is so motivating! ๐ ABH MR has been so well loved. ๐
So much pan! @ElleElleG -- You killed it!!! Inspiration officially gathered.
Lol thanks @heavyhedon , glad I could provide a little inspo ๐
Just such amazing progress, @ElleElleG!! I'm so impressed with eyeshadow panning!! ๐คฉ Thank you for hosting the thread and I look forward to seeing the update in the 2022 thread!!
Wow @ElleElleG ๐คฉ This is inspiring. I really need to try harder panning eyeshadow in 2022 ๐นโค๏ธ
Iโm so sorry for being sooo sooo late. These are finished probably the last 5 months of 2021
and some other misc items
Look at all the empties! This is massive. We're going to have a good time panning this year, I can tell.
Wow!! So many empties, nicely done, @blackkitty2014!! Those PMG lip glosses are lovely!!
Thx you @haleyvvvv . I panned so many PMG glosses and balmsโฆstill have lots more to do โค๏ธ
Bittersweet friends. I finished this MJ Mod Noir Dec 2021.
Wow @blackkitty2014! You finished a full size fragrance; that;s impressive. That bottle is beautiful! ๐
Oi, @blackkitty2014 , can't remember the last time I finished even a small cologne, but it must have been at least 30 years ago.
Great work, and it's wonderful to enjoy that special scent that can't be replaced-- so much better than leaving it to fade.
You have me thinking, maybe I should add in a body spray at least, during one of this year's seasonal pans. I culled my scents and scented lotion stash last month but still, there's more than too much. Kudos!
PS-- adorable tree!
Niiiiiice @blackkitty2014 ! Is this one you would repurchase?
This is colab between Sephora and Marc Jacobs. They discontinued this couple years back otherwise I would @ElleElleG ๐ฅฒ
Uggggggh I hate when things you like get discontinued ๐ฉ. Glad you were able to enjoy it though @blackkitty2014
Hi everyone! I'm going to do this for the first time in 2022 and I'm feeling inspired by you all haha. How do you decide what you will pick to pan? Or should I just pick SOMETHING to avoid the analysis paralysis?
Everyone has such great tips! Thank you all ๐
For me, panning was a bit of a curiosity, @ultimatepumpkin. I had accumulated a lot, and while I was good at getting through skincare, I just had no concept of how long it takes to get through products. At the end of 2020, I was going through my collection and trying to figure if I needed to declutter anything. So I picked a number of things I was trying to move out of my collection (either were older or I had used a bit) or things I was curious about how long it takes to use (bronzer, cream blush). I did go full in (3 foundations, 1 bronzer, 1 blush, 1 highlighter, 6 lippies and 2 eyeshadows). So I think that it really depends on what you know about yourself.
It can help to grab all the things you're thinking of panning and take pictures of it, so you can think about it. Use January to work through those items, using all of them, to get a feel if that's what you want to wear for the rest of the year. If not, then a rolling pan or usage numbers based pan might be better. Or maybe these items aren't good for a project pan for you.
I never felt "obligated" to use the items. But in the first half of the year, I had limited counter space, so I didn't really have anything else out to use. Maybe another blush and a few lippies. I moved and then got a vanity, so I got a little more space and in parallel had good usage and got a few more items I wanted to play around with, so I spent Q3 of the year playing a little more with other blushes and lippies. When I did my check in at the end of Q3, I used that to reassess and start a usage tracker and goal to reach my pan goals. That's something I'm going to continue this year, using a notebook to track. I had settled into using things like my panning blush half the week but making sure that most days I'm using a project on item.
There's so much great advice in this thread, it's about knowing yourself and thinking through what's best for you!!
