Best body wash for folliculitis

Hello hello,

i am looking for a body wash and any other recommended products for body folliculitis. I have it mostly on hips and down to the thighs and hurts a lot.

Hi @afalfituri ! Do you know which type of folliculitis you have on your body? Assuming it’s bacterial, you could try washing the effected area(s) with a benzoyl peroxide cleanser like PanOxyl (comes in a couple strengths; try the lower 4% one). You probably already know this but, avoid hot showers; lukewarm is best for skin in general, but especially when skin’s damaged or irritated. 

If you have pityrosporum/malassezia folliculitis (caused by an overgrowth/infection of the yeast we all naturally have on our bodies), then you can try an anti-dandruff shampoo on the effected area(s), or use a bar soap that contains pyrithione zinc. 

For both those types of folliculitis, consider occasionally using a hypochlorus acid spray. The most popular one is probably Tower 28 Beauty Mini SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray with Hypochlorous Acid 1 oz/ 30 mL  , but there are other options out there that are the same thing at a much lower price point. For instance, I use SkinSmart Antimicrobial Wound Therapy Spray (I buy it on Amazon). 

Have you already seen a dermatologist or primary care doctor for treatment options?
