@BeeHappyT Depends on the powder's formulation, in addition to your personal preference and how you like to apply your makeup. I'm in my early 50s with mostly-dry combo skin and I use setting powder for concealer. I also like to set winged eyeliner with translucent powder. I don't bake and I always use a fluffy brush with setting powder (I hate using sponges). My favorite setting powder ever is By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder—the loose translucent version. It also comes in a pressed version which is handy for travel/on-the-go. But I find I must use more of the pressed version to get the same makeup-locking results as using the tiniest bit of the loose version. Neither the loose nor pressed version make my skin look super dry, but the loose version performs better for me. I've been testing Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Moist Lucent Powder, a translucent loose setting powder, for about a month. In terms of non-drying finish, it's even better than By Terry's loose powder. But to get anywhere near the makeup setting performance of By Terry's loose powder, I have to use much more of KGD's powder—and even then, it doesn't lock makeup in place as well as By Terry's which gives me all-day hold in even the hottest humid weather. I've never tried one of KGD's pressed setting powders, so I don't know how they compare to the loose versions. I've also never tried KGD's other (non-"Moist") loose setting powder.

I was thinking the same thing - see your doctor for a referral to a dermatologist and see if there are concerns to be worried about. If nothing, maybe treating yourself to a facial; know their credentials, how long, etc.. For me, I’m expressive when I talk and my wrinkles are quite prominent; forehead, crow’s feet. Personally, I embrace them because there is no eraser. 🙂 I hope this helps

I have the Nuface Mini, and I'm really happy with the results when I use it regularly. That being said, I'm also very glad I look like my Dad (some cheek sag at 49) rather than my Mom (full-on jowls, my sister has them too) One thing I advise people if they can afford it is to shorten the two month starter period where you have to use it almost every day to get maximized results by getting professional treatments which are more powerful and will get you results much more quickly. If you have the means, you might want to get a few professional treatments at a med spa to see what microcurrent can do for you, then decide if you are satisfied with the results. Then you can decide if you want to invest in a device to do your own maintenance to stay at that level or would rather look into getting surgical intervention. If you really do feel very droopy and are unhappy with what you can achieve with microcurrent, it doesn't make sense to waste time and money because time is against you. If you feel like surgery is inevitable, it may make more sense to have it done now when it will save you bother and money on expensive devices and treatments and skincare products over the years ahead. There are really good tightening creams by Perricone and Strivectin, but they cost a lot!

I’ve been using Sunday Riley’s Luna oil for awhile now and really like the results. If you’ve never used a retinol before, then I would suggest you try blending it with their Juno oil to get started. One drop Luna in four drops of Juno will help you be able to dilute and diffuse the application evenly over your face and neck, and I even use it on my hands, now. After you’ve acclimated to full strength, the A+ serum is great, too.

@Fina60 I'm sorry to say this, but I suspect that if a dermatologist (presumably the person who prescribed the lotion cleanser and cream?) can't resolve this issue for you, it's beyond what the Sephora community can assist you with. Your best bet would be to go back to the dermatologist (or a different one), explaining that you reacted badly to the prescription products. Clearly your skin is sensitive to something in the prescriptions, so you know that you react to certain ingredients. A dermatologist ought to be able to help you figure this out. I would also visit your doctor, to see if there may be any underlying health issues causing this change in your skin. In the meantime, things within your power to try are elimination diets (I mention this because my mother gets breakouts the day after eating chocolate), or even a food journal to start with - log what you eat, and how your skin feels/reacts later that day and the following day. You could also try washing your face with nothing but lukewarm water for a week or two. If that starts resolving the issue, you know it's something you're applying to your skin that's the issue. Good luck!

@CindyGoodJenk72 In addition to the excellent suggestions of @greeneyedgirl107, I'd like to offer that I've had terrific results from Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One AHA Lactic Acid Treatment. I splurged on their Sunday Riley Wake Up With Me Morning Routine Kit and the Sunday Riley Go To Bed With Me Anti-Aging Night Routine but found that not all the products were optimal for me. However, Good Genes (and the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip French Green Clay Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL) were game-changers for me. Good luck! 💋

@Candi5 While @SportyGirly125 offers a useful rule of thumb, I personally loathe a dewy finish anything. I think it looks like my skin is horribly oily and needs a good cleanser and toner! So personal preference plays a part in all this as well. I myself (at age 58) like either matte or natural finishes to my foundation. To that end, I've been looking at HUDA BEAUTY #FauxFilter Luminous Matte Foundation which offers a natural skin-like finish with just a tiny bit of "shimmer" to perk up the complexion. Hiding redness isn't about the finish of your foundation; it's about the level of coverage your foundation provides. Sheer, medium, full - those kinds of words let you know how much coverage you can expect. Powder can be a great way to set your makeup, especially if you get breakthrough oil later in the day. But if your skin is dry, you could skip it. Looking at what Make Up For Ever offers, I see a couple of options that I'd suggest you look at. One is MAKE UP FOR EVER HD SKIN TWIST & LIGHT 24HR Luminous Finishing Powder - this would give you that slight shimmer I was talking about above, to brighten your complexion after applying their matte foundation. With regard to the redness (setting aside skincare solutions, which I'd recommend you consider as well - easier if you can remove the problem instead of hiding it!), you could also look at colour correction where needed. The Make Up For Ever line has the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Underpainting Color Correction Palette but there are a number of palettes offered by other lines as well. Personally my redness (which is mild, granted) disappears if I apply yellow colour correction, but it will depend on things like your natural skin colour and how red the areas are as to which colour, or blend of colours, works for you. Let me know if you have any more questions. 😀

Just keep in mind that your skin is your skin. You might share some of the same concerns as other people here in this age group, but your individual needs may be very different. I was just having a conversation with one of my best girlfriends and we joked that none of the products and techniques we used were really applicable to the other, because even though we’re about the same age, our skin is the opposite. Hers is dry and sensitive, mine is oily and rarely reacts. That said, I think there’s something to be said about the lack of diversity… when it comes to age… within the beauty industry, which often makes it seem like a product or even a brand “isn’t for me.” So, I really like a lot of their products. The overnight hand mask is great. I like the setting powders; they don’t settle into lines and have good absorption of oil. The lip products in the skin care line are very good. Am I going to using the highlighters and body glitter? Nope. But that doesn’t keep me from shopping the brand.
