Mature skin

I'm looking for the best products to smooth my wrinkles. I'm 56 yrs young, but don't want deep wrinkles. I've tried so many products, some work, some don't. Any suggestions would help, thanks

My Dermatologist said to remember that the more of it you apply, the more it will affect your skin, regardless of the strength.  Start with small bits or mix it into your moisturizer to spread evently

RE: Mature skin

I started using Rodan and Fields Redefine face wash, toner, AM/PM moisturizers and eye-cream a couple months ago. I got rid of all my other stuff. I love it! One of my coworkers commented on my makeup free skin the other day... I guess itโ€™s working..๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Re: Mature skin

I started with Demarche BioRewind retinol; expensive, but I tried so many drugstore brands that irritated my sensitive skin and this one is gentle. I also have very oily skin so that eliminated a lot of retinol products for me.

I also just started using Sunday Riley Good Genes lactic acid. I can't tolerate glycolic acid products, my skin just burns.

With any skin care, start one product at a time, so you will know what's causing any problem you might have.

An alternative to retinol if you don't have wrinkles yet or they are very fine would be a Vitamin C serum, the only one that works for me is Algenist (again, expensive). You could use lactic acid at night and Vit C during the day.  Be sure to use sunscreen with both - they will make skin more sensitive to sunburn.

Re: Mature skin

@msd2162 A product will retinol will likely be your best bet.  Start slowly, and you will be able to tolerate it well.  I rec going to beautypedia.com and reading their "best of" list for retinols.  You can find one with the right amount of concentration at the right price.

If you use that and are still struggling, then I rec a prescription retinoid.  Without insurance I think it's like $80 or $90, but so are many OTC products that don't do squat -- and this lasts for months and months and months.

You can also read "The Beauty Bible" by Paula Begoun to help you develop more of a routine (AHA and antioxidants are also helpful).  The last publication date was years ago, but the foundation of information is sound.

Best of luck!  ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you for all your help

Re: Mature skin

I would start with retinoid cream and a lactic acid, not on same nights though. Sunday riley good genes is a great lactic acid product I have used, a bit expensive but really saw results.
