drunk elephant c-firma vs. mad hippie vitamin c

i am thinking about getting drunk elephants c-firma serum, however I am currently using mad hippies vitamin c, the latter not sold at sephora. for those of you who have tried both, which is better? is it worth it dropping $80 on DE? both have different vitamin c derivatives too: l absorbic acid vs. sodium ascorbyl phosphate. i am a dark skinned girl with hyperpigmentation from acne. thanks everyone!

Re: drunk elephant c-firma vs. mad hippie vitamin c

I personally don't find the mad Hippie greasy (as one poster stated).  I use that. I have also used the Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%.

Honestly I'm not thinking the effects are an immediate thing, but seen over time.  For the price alone, that is why I didn't buy (and haven't tried) the DE. @akhilaal

Re: drunk elephant c-firma vs. mad hippie vitamin c

The ordinary has a ton of information on their site about vitamin c.  It is destroyed by water and they recommend not using a moisturizer with it because of that.  vitamin c in a moisturizer probably is not clinically active.  They have several different preps, formulations of vitamin c.  The cheapest is gritty.  They make one in silicone (which I do not like using, myself) which is not gritty.  I have not yet tried the one in vitamin f, but have heard good things.  It is their most expensive product @ $17.  The gritty one (aha spheres) is $5.  won't cost you much to see if you like it, and all of their formulations are effective, water-free.  DE is all very costly, and their vitamin c is a water based prep.

@akhilaal I can't speak to it's efficacy since I haven;t tried it yet, but you may want to consider the ordinary's vitamin C products- definitely way cheaper. I heard they can be a touch gritty though, so it depends on how patient you're willing to be with your skincare routine

Hi! I have used both and to be honest I did not notice any difference in my skin in either (after months of daily use). I have darker olive complexion (I am 32) with a dark spot. Honestly, I was disappointed in both. My take dont waste your money on DE.

RE: drunk elephant c-firma vs. mad hippie vitamin c

Hi! I’ve used both. I like the DE better. I found the mad hippie greasy and it didn’t absorb into my skin as well as the DE. I use less of the DE so the value is better. A little goes a long way because you can mix it to make a cocktail! I use The protini moisturizer (1 pump) with two drops of marula oil and 2 drops of c-firma. I’ve noticed a BIGdifference v mad hippie. I really like mad hippie products too and still use the sunscreen. I love MH’s packaging!! It’s so pretty.
