Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here !
today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. But sheesh.

If you are into metallics, the Sephora x Pantone Marsala Metalshine Liquid Liner is a gorgeous color within this family (I'm wearing it in the photo below). It's a slightly rosy rust-red metallic and applies really well. It's still available online, but if you have a SiJCP near you you should call and check with them first as I have seen them in the SiJCP sale section for about 50% off.

I got 3 from my SiJCP on sale for $9, because I'm all for red eyeliner. 😄 And it looks good with **bleep** near everything.
Ugh I just saw that at SiJCP and was like, um no... But after seeing it on you, I'm like oh yes! Darn it! I need to be more adventurous!
Lots of colors look so different till you see them on 🙂
Yay! I love this color. I am definitely itching for a matte rust-red liner though. Let me know if you find the perfect one!
Well I thought my search was basically over with this and then the idea of doing a burgundy waterline lodged in my brain... You would think I could just let things be. XD
Nah. I understand the draw. I think burgundy, red and pink look best on my complexion and with my eye color, and I love dark colors most of all. Unfortunately there are just not enough options for quality eye products in these colors!
Seriously! Equal love across the color spectrum!
I have a few red/burgundy liners that might work. I'll swatch them for you later, promise. Two are Holika Holika and I get them for around $7 on eBay. These are my HG liners. Better than any I've tried including UD, TF, Smashbox. I have very oily eyelids and this stuff doesn't budge. And thanks for the baby yak, he's totally smiling 🙂
I've been eyeballing some Holika Holika liners myself for a loooooong time. (Maybe the same ones and swatches would be super appreciated thank you ma'am! 😄 ) I think I might finally stop finding reasons to not do it and order some of the interesting and bizarre Korean beauty items that I have been wanting to try.
So many things to try, so little time/money/attention span.
Also, the Inglot red eyeliner is amazeballs. Mine dried up and I need a new one. The color is so intense. This swatch I found is a great example:
This liner has been on my wants list for a long time, I just keep forgetting I can order it...
I think it may need to happen as immediately as possible. Come on payday!
It definitely has a different consistency than any other cream liner I've tried. It feels a little like greasepaint, rather than a gel. But it dries and stays put. But once it dries up in the container, it's a goner. I tried resurrecting it but had to toss it.
Yea, I wish they would make half sizes of gel/cream liners. I can never use them up before they dry out.
Oh my gosh. I want this!
THIS IS A DREAM !!!!!
You could try Stila's Smudge Stick in Deep Burgundy - it pulls somewhat red on me. Definitely a rich brown. Or maybe Sienna or Spice?
You know I walk right past the Stila display and never really pay attention. Will definitely be making a swatchfest of it next time I go to town! Thanks for the recommends. 😄 (Also saw the Garnet Ink, which is probably no good for waterlines but... intriguing. Hope they get it in store for me to see soon.)
it's the purpler side of of burgundy, and it's kohl liner pencil, but MAC's prunella is wonderful. their 'teddy' is brown but i'd say it's a warm brown, too. mixed and smudged together they'd be particularly glorious.
proper gel liners, wise, MARC JACOBS highliners have a similar sort of maroon called jazzberry and a warm bronze called (ro)cocoa.
i feel you, it's hard to find a proper burgundy anything. definitely check out prunella, though !
It might could be my first MAC purchase... If they weren't ungodly rude at the local MAC counter I might have gone in to pick them up, but I see MAC has free shipping so that's just as good. 😄
Sick day makeup lessons learnt:
I have been under the weather since yesterday (fever etc). So today I decided to put my game face on and did a whole Burberry look. I have errands to run and tons of work to do.
Makeupwise nothing too exciting, just some stuff I slapped on. But here are important lessons I learnt:
- Dreamy eyes are easy to achieve when sick. Dreamy, drugged....they all mean the same thing, no?
- Blushing cheeks? Done! Some natural flush becasue your body is going hot and cold is just th ething you need. Who needs blusher? Chumps, that's who.
- Red lips: Slap on a red lipstick and you will look like you belong. You think anybody asks a woman with red lipstick if she is sick? Naw! Women that wear red lipstick are rescuing puppies and beating ninja warriors. So that is what I did...slapped some red on and now I can fight a small battle.
End of pearls of wisdom. Obviously the drugs are speaking. Thx bai.
