Re: Remembering Where We Started! 💄❤💎
My very first makeup set (lipsticks, eyeliners, and maybe some eyeshadow) was all Revlon and Wet N Wild in the 1980s. 😂 I have no photos, sadly.
But I can show you my typical 1990s makeup set, because I still use that stuff.
MAC was my first “high end” makeup exposure.
Number 22 angled brush + eyeliner in shade Coffee + matte shadow in Carbon = my old daily brow kit, back in the days before brow pencils, gels, pomades, and “brow shadows” were a thing. I did my brows with these until I found Benefit’s Precisely My Brow Pencil, and that was maybe 2 or 3 years ago. For the hell of it, I tried doing my brows this way a few days ago and wow, was that frustrating!
Metallic shadow in Amber Lights + matte Carbon + 22 brush + 144 shader brush = my old eye kit. The only thing missing is a MAC or Wet N Wild black eyeliner pencil... I’m surprised I don’t have either of those in my stash right now. I still use Amber Lights and Carbon on my lids. Also, the 144 is my oldest brush: it’s over 20 years old and all its lettering’s been worn off. The 22 is my second oldest brush: it’s around the same age but has managed to keep its lettering, despite being used more often than the 144.
The 2 lipsticks represent my ‘90s collection of MAC and Urban Decay bullets. I don’t have MAC Media anymore, but it used to be one of my favorite lipstick shades. I do have a vintage re-release of UD Bruise, another old favorite. My lipstick collection was only around 30 lipsticks back then, I think.
I never wore foundation, blush, or mascara back then. I did wear nail polish often, but definitely don’t have photos of my old bottles. 😂
