2023 Self-Care Check-In Challenge
Ready or not, 2023 is here, and the Beauty Insider Community is kicking the year off the best way we know how: with our annual Self-Care Check-In Challenge! Whether or not youโre a resolution-maker, thereโs something kind of satisfying about the idea of a โfresh startโ ๐งผ and while weโre big supporters of maintaining boundaries and practicing self-care all year round, it doesnโt hurt to have a little extra motivation to set healthy (and/or relaxing) habits.
Think of this thread as the place to check in with your fellow Community members and share how youโre practicing different types of self-care โ they can be inspired by our weekly inspo prompts, or based on your own unique self-care needs or beauty intentions. If one theme doesnโt speak to you โ by all means, skip it! You can still stop by to cheer on your fellow Community members! ๐ค
Hit the reply button below and let us know โ how are you practicing self-care in 2023? Donโt forget to tag any products youโre using to achieve your goals, if applicable, by using the โ#โ sign!

Okay, I have a few of these. (Mostly relating to hydration because my skin lives on the dryer side โ๐ โ)
โ๐ธโ Don't bathe or shower in water that is too hot, it dries out your skin
โ๐โ Pat your skin dry, it pushes moisture back into your skin instead of aggressive toweling
โ๐ฆโ Use moisturizer after the bath to help seal in all the good moisture (adding a few drops of your favorite oil to your moisturizer can add extra awesomeness to this step)
โ๐โ a old silk shirt *I found ones at thrift stores * make excellent hair towels.
Not really body care, I know, but I think it's a good hair care hack and I was talking about after bathing/showering so I thought it was a helpful point โ๐โ
Following up: I did it you guys, I started doing little 30-45 minute work out sessions after work. Mostly yoga * my favorite overall body toning exercise * and I pulled out my wee little 5lbs weights. I successfully did 4 small sessions *woo hoo* and I'm still going strong on my skin care goals. The journal is really helping keep me on track, it's so handy! ๐
Congratulations to you on making your goals!! This helps me a lot mediation day /night & giving myself & others positive affirmations. A few nice words go a very long way!!
Wow, so many great tips, @CynthieLu!
Those are amazing tips @CynthieLu ! Thank you for sharing them! And congratulations on your achievement!!! Thatโs awesome!! ๐๐๐
I hope I created realistic goals @Saradestin ๐ Short work outs are less intimidating and gives my body time to get used to exercising again, and the journal helps me keep track of my use of my fun tools and hit my retinol goals of 2-3 times per week etc.. ๐ this thread had been very helpful and definitely motivating ๐ฉท
I am terrible at taking care of my body so this weekโs challenge with everyoneโs feedback, will for sure inspire me to be less lazy and to dedicate more time to pamper my body.
A bath.... I forgot the last time I took one (I think it was, at least, three years ago) I love baths, but for some reason I always go for a shower
Three years, @Saradestin, wow! It might be time to try that out again, it is such a great stress reliever.
I know @eshoe ! It is not that I donโt like it! I love a hot bath but it seems like I never have the time for it! ๐
It's a good goal @Saradestin to make some time soon for a relaxing bath ๐
And I have two bathtubs to choose from, I have no excuse @CynthieLu ! ๐
Lol! At least you have options ๐ @Saradestin
I absolutely love baths. I take one almost every night. A bath definitely helps me sleep.
I'm on team baths too @curlychiquita I love a good relaxing soak ๐ซง ๐ ๐
I took some time to myself after school and did some extra body care it was so relaxing
CLINIQUE All About Cleanโข Foaming Facial Soap Cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid 5 oz/ 150 mL Briogeo Curl Charismaโข Rice Amino + Shea Curl Defining Conditioner 8 oz/ 237 mL
Dry brushing? Unfortunately I canโt say Iโve ever done this, Iโll give it a shot but I usually get a good exfoliation sesh in the shower once a week ๐
I only just showed up now but I can confirm Iโve been doing more movement and more night skin care routine.
this week I could take a bath but I usually do that after a quick shower bc I donโt like soaking in dirty water lol.
Week 3 (1/18-1/24): Spending extra time on body care (dry brushing, exfoliating treatments, bath time?)
I need to start dry brushing again. I used to do it once a week at least. At the moment I exfoliate my body once a week-stomach, butt, legs, arms and hands. I use REN Clean Skincare Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Salt Anti-Fatigue Exfoliating Body Scrub 11.2 oz/ 330 mL #REN Clean Skincare AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum 6.8 oz/ 200 ml Caudalie Vinosculpt Lift & Firm Body Cream 8.4 oz/ 250 mL Tatcha Hinoki Hydrating Body Oil 3.38 oz / 100 mL or Bio Oil, Leanne Grace body butters she also makes an amazing body oil, StriVectin SD Advancedโข PLUS Intensive Moisturizer For Wrinkles & Stretch Marks 4 oz/ 118 mL L'Occitane Nourishing & Softening Shea Butter Foot Cream 5.3 oz/ 150 mL Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream
Since I have dry skin my body wash is Aveeno unscented.
Dry brushing sounds like it would be a great winter skin savior, @SportyGirly125.
@eshoe @I started doing it last year in hopes it would help my skin look better after having kids. Didnโt have too much luck but itโs better than doing nothing. I donโt have the money to do all the skin tightening treatments or the mommy body makeovers.
You know, @SportyGirly125 - I think you are on to something there. You say you havenโt noticed much difference, but if you had not even started doing it in the first place, maybe you would be noticing a different type of difference. I feel similar to masking sometimes ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Week 3 (1/18-1/24): Spending extra time on body care (dry brushing, exfoliating treatments, bath time?)
I got exfoliating gloves on amazon for the shower which I really love ! They aren't too harsh but do a nice job on my body! Nรฉcessaire The Body Exfoliator - With Bamboo Charcoal Fragrance Free is my fave ! It's the perfect amount of grit without being too harsh ! My mom got me a Molton Brown body wash for Xmas and it's such a luxe experience! I do love the philosophy Falling In Love Shampoo, Bath & Shower Gel 16 oz/ 480 mL ones though!
Has anyone tried Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Firmeza Firming & Debloating Body Oil 3.38 oz / 100 mL or Nรฉcessaire The Body Cream - With 5 Ceramides, Colloidal Oatmeal + Niacinamide 6.8 oz / 200 mL ? I am super interested in both of those new products !
