What was your first makeup product

Mine was the 'I Pink I Love You' kit from benefit!

Re: What was your first makeup product

It was the L'oreal True Match Foundation in C3. It was a tad too cool for me. I was going to my first school dance and wanted to wear make up. Lesson: don't wait until the day of prom to practice putting on make up for the first time.

Re: What was your first makeup product

@BeliveInMakeup I don't remeber the brand but 15 yrs ago (OMG?!?!) I bought drugstore silver metalic lipstick - I didn't wear anything else - no mascara, foundation nothing just the lipstick. I must looked ridiculous but I love that lipstick to death...and my mom hated it. And by the way now I hate the lipsticks my mom wears( purplish pinks are her favorite - I tried to convince her to try more neutral colors but nope) - circle of life I guess 😂

Re: What was your first makeup product

First product was Cover Girl Frosted eyeshadow

Re: What was your first makeup product

Mine was Maybelline Great Lash Mascara!  I got it to wear for theatre performances, and basically never stopped! 🙂

omg... I think it was an eyeshadow or 2 from a brand call...

omg... I think it was an eyeshadow or 2 from a brand called "jane" that was big in drugstores in the 90s.... awww, I miss that brand.

Mine was Maybelline Pink Satin eyeshadow. It was so pretty.. I'd wear it today. I was 13 then..lol

Re: What was your first makeup product

Hmmm, the very first ever? Memory fails but it was likely a Lancome foundation bought for me circa age 13 by my well-intentioned mother that I never wore because a) it was too heavy and b) it turned orange on me. (Little did I know that I was olive and due for many many years of things turning orange before I figured that out, ha ha!) My aunt gave me a copy of "Bobbi Brown Teenage Beauty" and I had a few Bobbi Brown products around that time, including a shimmer brick and a pale pink blush. I also had a Stila blush and eyeshadow in Kitten. My mother gave me a lipgloss that I never wore because I was self conscious about lip products at that time. Of all those, the foundation or the lipgloss were likely the first I ever owned.

Re: What was your first makeup product

I have been buying makeup all of my life haha! I used to buy those little kid palettes every chance I got. But my first actual makeup was those mood changing lipsticks from them 90's. My first highend makeup was The naked palette. That was the one that started my true addiction.

Skip to the bottom if you want to know the product. Keep reading if you want to know the story behind it 😌 My mom wore zero makeup when I was growing up (same to this day) so I knew almost nothing about it. Kids didn't wear makeup in the 80s where I lived. It was considered inappropriate and asking for the \"wrong kind of attention.\" Sigh. So the only people around me that wore makeup were teenagers who wore it very badly because they were finally allowed to and were really layering it on, and older women who wore frosted blue eyeshadow and ghastly brownish-orangey-pink blush right up into their poodle-perm hair. Not exactly aspirational. But one day, when I was 10 years old, an Avon lady dropped off one of those little catalogues in our mailbox and I wasquite simply dazzled. These were the days before internet, social media, and more than 20 TV channels. The struggle was real 😂 I spent an entire week poring over the makeup section of that little catalogue and deciding what I would use my hard-earned savings to buy. I knew my mom wouldn't approve so I kept it a secret, including when I conducted the transaction over the phone, using my most mature-sounding voice. I wasafraid the Avon lady wouldn't even take my order but she did! Success! A couple weeks later, she phoned and asked if she could drop by with my product. She arrived shortly after and I think she was a little stunned to discover that her customer was a 10 year old. I guess I had pulled off that mature voice a little better than I thought. My mom was upstairs in the kitchen as I quickly handed over my $4.00 and took the crinkly white bag that was arranged just so, thanked her, and shut the door. To me, it felt more like a drug deal than an Avon purchase! I walked back to my room briskly, announcing casually to my mom that it was the Avon lady dropping off a new catalogue (which wasn't a lie, since she included one with my order) and sped off to my room. Iremember sitting on my floor and trying to open the paper bag as quietly as I possibly could so I wouldn't draw anyone's attention. Finally, I resorted to fake coughing through the loud ripping around the staples because I was just too impatient. And there it was. My first makeup product: Avon blush in shade Wisteria. A beautiful purplish-pink blush that matched my cool-toned skin perfectly. The product, the smell, and especially the name (Wisssteriaaah) are all still fresh in my mind, nearly 30 years later ☺️

Re: RE: What was your first makeup product

@PinkEvergreen This is a great story!! I love it!! You reading the Avon catalogue reminded me of myself( I was like 15)  when I first discovered Harper's Bazaar it was like a new world open for me...❤️

Re: What was your first makeup product

I can't remember the first FIRST thing I purchased but I know one of them was the Tarte double ended lip glosses that were named after famous couples.  I bought Westley and Buttercup so fast my head spun!  I know my first return was UD's Cannonball mascara.  I used it and could not get it off.  I panicked and wasn't sure they would take back a *gasp* used product.  I remember the Sephora cast member was super nice about it!

Re: What was your first makeup product

first foundation (that i hadn't stolen from a friend / relative and was the right color for me) was by PRESCRIPTIVES ! my mom took me in because we couldn't find any drug store foundations that matched, and they would mix a foundation to match.

my first sephora purchase (as far as i remember) was a CALVIN KLEIN eye gloss.

quite likely my first proper lipstick was CLINIQUE tenderheart. because it was in EVERY gwp and i would always get my mom's GWP leftovers.
