Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @drdennisgross - so glad you're going to be answering some of our questions!

I breakout pretty regularly so I'm working to brighten my complexion and fade my acne scars. What routine would you recommend for my sensitive skin?

Thanks for joining us in the BIC!
Katie

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @KatieBT - thanks for stopping by. I would recommend starting with the DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Alpha Beta® Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel, DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Alpha Beta® Universal Daily Peeland the DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Alpha Beta® Pore Perfecting & Refining Serum. These products are designed to be used together without irritating the skin or throwing it off balance. Gently decongesting your pores will help to prevent breakouts from occurring. The Alpha Beta Daily Peel will also help to treat blemishes while brightening and evening out your skin tone. What would your recommendations be to combat the hyperpigmentation seen below? I’m in my mid 30s, have oily skin and hormonal breakouts. Thank you for your advice!

Re: RE: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hello @Meghs29 - thank you for your question! To combat the hyperpigmentation I see on your cheek/chin area, I recommend using DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Alpha Beta® Extra Strength Daily Peelevery day followed by  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Grade IPL Dark Spot Correcting Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL . You should see a major improvement in your skin tone and a fading of the hyperpigmentation.

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

What are solutions for hypopigmentation on the face caused by a laser treatment over 10 years ago?

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @amg0612 It depends how deep the hypopigmentation is. Unfortunately, your only solution may be to cover it up. The best advice is to consult a medical tattoo artist that can fill in your skin color. I have referred individuals suffering from hypopigmentation and depigmented areas to tattoo artists.

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Thank you so much for the insight! I've been struggling with a solution for over 10 years, so I'm glad to have finally gotten more than "currently, there are no solutions" as a response.

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

PCOS acne. How do you deal with it? I have normal to combination skin, so oiliness isn't a huge problem for me. I can't take spironolactone right now for because reasons, and I am starting to BREAK. OUT.

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @ADawnPhelpsyou can use blue light LED to help kill bacteria and tackle the problem until you can get back in to see your physician. You may also find ingredients like farnesol, salicylic acid and sulfur help manage the breakouts, but do recommend consulting your physician to help stabilize your hormonal activity. Hope you're staying safe!

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

I as well have PCOS and take the same medication. I broke out at first on the meds but starting to reside 2nd month in. I have very oily skin and I would love to know what products are best to use!

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi Dr. Gross

About three years ago I got really bad cystic acne. Since then I have tried just about every topical cream and multiple medications. Nothing has worked and I’m at a total loss as to what I should do next. What would you recommend?

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @Mushkyfrank! One of the biggest mistakes when treating inflamed acne is increasing irritation by overusing harsh treatments. Soothing the skin is just as important as encouraging cell turnover with exfoliation. I would recommend choosing one potent exfoliation treatment and sticking with soothing, detoxifying and hydrating treatment. Sulfur is a great ingredient to neutralize bacteria without risking over exfoliation. Oil-free hydration, specifically hyaluronic acid, with continue to keep inflammation at bay while maintaining balance. LED lights are non-heat generating treatments that will kill bacteria and promote healing.

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Is your brand cruelty free?

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hello @CHARISHMA2205 I hope you are well! Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare is a cruelty-free brand, as being 100% cruelty-free is very important to me. You can spot the cruelty-free symbol on all of our product packaging.

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi! I’m 28 and finding my skin has been changing over the past few years. I used to have dry acne prone skin, but it always bounced back well. Now I find I’m getting more combination skin, but still mostly dry, but also starting to get redness in my cheeks. My issue is my pores on my nose, forehead, and chin have enlarged and I tend to have uneven texture. Is there a way I can exfoliate and deal with my large pores, without aggravating my potential rosacea-induced redness? I’ve been using the drunk elephant line and haven’t seen much improvement in my skin  the only thing that seems to work to cover my redness is the Dr. Jart Tiger Grass Cicapair, but it doesn’t seem to have a lasting impact. Thank you!

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @Jazzy0517! Gentle exfoliation is the key to treating texture and enlarged pores without irritating the skin.  Lactic and mandelic acids are great for sensitive skin because they have a larger molecular size. These acids also have moisturizing and oil-regulating benefits, respectively.  I’d suggest our Ultra Gentle Daily Peel and Pore Perfecting Cleanser to start addressing your concerns.  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Pads for Sensitive Skin 30 treatments + 5 bonus  DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Alpha Beta® Pore Perfecting & Refining Serum

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi Dr. Gross,

I am 52 and have stubborn dark spots and melasma on my cheeks. I use Murad Rapid Dark Spot and Pigment Lightening serum, Sunday Riley CEO vitamin C serum, moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning and Sunday Riley A* retinol serum, toner and moisturizer at night. The spots are not fading. Do you have any suggestions? Should I change what I am using or add products? Thank you so much for your help!!

Re: Live Skincare Consultations with Dr. Dennis Gross, Dermatologist and Brand Founder

Hi @PixieMagic, treating melasma can be tricky as it is often reoccurring. I’d suggest ensuring you’re using the right strength of retinoid to achieve the best results. Many products use what we call retinyl esters, which are gentler on the skin but not as effective at treating skin concerns. Our Ferulic & Retinol line uses true retinol buffered by ferulic acid to increase effectiveness and decrease irritation. You will also want to add more lightening and brightening ingredients into your routine. Kojic acid, licorice, arbutin and soy isoflavones are examples of important depigmenting ingredients. These are all present in our  Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Clinical Grade IPL Dark Spot Correcting Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL .

4C420E0C-94C8-43C7-8621-A70183933E0F.jpegHi Dr. Gross. I’m 40 years old and get acne only on my chin. I’ve been using a cream (only on my chin) from my dermatologist that contains Spironolactone, Tretinion, and Niacinamide. It dries my skin out like crazy and I still managed to get this shiner. Do I push through and continue to use it, even on cystic acne (pictured)? Using moisturizer seems to further break out my chin. Do you have any recommendations on how to handle this problem area? Also, what is the secret to truly dewy skin? Youth? How do I get it again at 40? Thank you for your time and be well!
