serums???

I struggle with dry skin! Im 31 . What serums could you guys recommend for daily use both day and night?

Re: serums???

Hello! I would recommend using Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum. It can be used in the am and pm. The really great thing about this serum is that, not only does it moisturize your skin, but it works to correct and restore the moisture balance in your face. When applying it at night, you can place a moisturizer over it too which is great. $49  https://www.sephora.com/product/vinosource-s-o-s-thirst-quenching-serum-P374211?skuId=1424241&icid2=...

Re: serums???

I’ve had combination-dry, dehydrated and super sensitive skin for pretty much my entire adult life.  From my experience, hydrating serums or serums with ceramides are best for dry skin.  Here are some hydrating serums that I’ve found to do well with my skin:

Over $50

  • Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel – this has been my holy grail hydrating serum for years, or, at this point, possibly for a decade! Goodness.  It really is that good (and for the price, it sure had better be! Ha!)  I am usually trying out some hydrating serum or another but for some time now, I always go back to this one.  It’s the gold standard for me – I don’t know what it is, but my skin just responds very well to it.  The serum is thin, but not too thin, in consistency, absorbs smoothly and hydrates my skin like no other hyaluronic acid serum.

  • Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum – this is infused with 75% hyaluronic acid complex and pairs well with the moisturizer from the same line.

  • Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel - I think this is more like a gel moisturizer, but in the winter, I use it like a serum under my moisturizer and like its hydrating and brightening properties.  One thing I really like about this product is how it is packaged - an air-tight pump.

Between $20 - $50

  • Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid - as the name suggests, there are ceramides in the serum, which infuses super dry skin with much needed hydration and also helps to plump up the skin.  If the Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel infuses my skin with a dose of hyaluronic acid to help it retain moisture, then this Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid is my skin hero when winter wreaks its havoc on my dry skin and it starts to peel.

  • First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum – this is a great lightweight, water based gel serum if you have sensitive skin or suffer from redness.    I like using this when my skin is extra sensitive or irritated, whether due to the weather or an allergic reaction to something, etc.  – hyaluronic acid in this serum hydrates my skin and the aloe leaf juice and colloidal oatmeal soothes any inflammation, irritation or redness my skin may be experiencing.

Under $20

  • The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 – it’s often touted as a dupe for the Skinceuticals serum but for a fraction of the price ($68 v. $6.80).  It’s a good serum, stickier than the Skinceuticals product, but the sticky texture becomes less of an issue when you layer something over it (i.e., moisturizer).  At this price point, it may unseat the Skinceuticals product as my go-to hydrating serum.

  • Mizon Original Skin Energy Hyaluronic Acid 100 Ampoule – this product contains 50% hyaluronic acid and several peptides that help to hydrate the skin; texture wise, it is more viscous than the Skinceuticals product.  It is lightweight, absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any greasy freeling.

Re: serums???

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum is sooo good.

Re: serums???

You want to look for serum high in oleic acids (omega-9). These are long-chain fatty acids that your body naturally produces, but depending on your age, skin type, or environmental stressors, you should consider having a serum with oleic acid, since it helps to lock in moisture, as well as with anti-aging. However, different oils have different oleic acid content, so you may want to try and see what's best for you. I personally would recommend seabuckthorn oil or jojoba oil to start out with--these are more "middle of the road" oils that help all skin types.

With that said, I'd recommend Fresh's Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil, Jack Black Epic Moisturize MP 10 Nourishing Oil, or Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

Good luck! 🙂
