niacinanide and aha

I recently purchased The Ordinary Niacinanide 10%. I am trying to fit it into my skin care routine. I have combo skin, and have large pores I am trying to minimize while trying to control my oil production on my T zone. The rest of my skin is very dry, which is why I’ve been using hyaluronic   acid products from the Glow Recipe line, and the mermaid serum from Tarte. These products help my dry areas, as well as the AHA watermelon sleeping mask from Glow Recipe.

However, two of my products contain AHA, the sleeping mask and the watermelon pore toner. I am wondering if I can actually use these together with the niacinanide, as I’ve read both sides where you can and you can’t. I am confused on which is correct. Also, some Glow Recipe products contain BHA, and I’m not sure if that will work well either.

i also use the Tatcha water cream which contains lactic acid. I would also like to know if this will effect the way the niacinanide as well. As some sources say it shouldn’t mix while others say it can.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

Re: niacinanide and aha

Niacinamide plays well with a lot of ingredients. It just depends on your skin and how well its adjusted to it. Try using it for one day and see in the next 3-5 days if there is irritation or other reactions. Use it 3 times a week to start, then every other day for a week, and then everyday.

I alternate my stuff when I am unsure. Like I will use my aha/bha's one night and the next night I will do retinol. And vit c with alpha arbutin every morning with niacinamide and cerva moisturizer or gel cream by Neutrogena. I use Niacinamide day and night. A little goes a long way (3 drops).

I try to follow this guideline as much as possible when I do my skincare everyday. But please make sure you read the labels and not mix things that may cause sensitivity or irritation. Niacinamide is in skincare products already so make sure you dont over do it. Less is always more, its the consistency and long term use that yields results.
