jawline cyst acne help!

Good morning ladies! I am a 31 year old who recently started developing cyst acne on the right side of my jawline and chin tiny little bumps under the skin. I have been using Drunk Elephant for two months and was fine with the products, I am not sure if it is the Vitamin C serum that is causing this or what? Does anyone have any recommendations on Cyst jawline acne and face products to use to help fix or clear up? Thanks so much in advance

RE: jawline cyst acne help!

Cystic acne is really hard to treat topically, so I suggest investing in oral medicine that your dermatologist suggest 🙂 this is coming from a teenager with very painful cystic acne that only one medicine helped - mynocylene or minocyclene or something of the such I haven’t taken it in quite a while and my cystic acne has come back angrier than ever 😫

Re: RE: jawline cyst acne help!

Thank you! I will maybe check out my Derm if it does not go away.

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

Hey! Please just hear me out, I used to get cystic acne just like you. They were big, plump, and no matter what I tried from sephora did not help. I tried PTR, Murad, Clinique, Kate sommerville, ect.

Until I tried something on a whim and that was clinical strength salycitic acid that was 20%

(Most acne meds in sephora or drugstore contain 2% salycitic acid)

This small bottle only cost $15 off amazon and its such a godsend.  I use it for spot treating,  dab a q-tip in the solution, then dab the lil' sucker! It will burn but thats ok, don' freak out, lol

Do it couple nights a week and they'll go away, mine went away and never came back, but I'd spot treat and do flash-facials.

Anyways, if you're at all interested its

 Called:

"ASDM Beverly Hills 20% Salicylic Acid Peel"

Hope this helps! ☺☺☺

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

I am always open to try anything if it helps! I like the price tag as well:) Thank you

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

Cysts on jawline sound like they could be hormonal acne @Kat0808...unfortunately there's not a product out there that will prevent them completely. I started getting hormonal breakouts last summer and have just learned to deal with them with skincare products that work.

I have heard though, that people have reacted badly to the Vitamin C serum. If you're suspecting that product is causing the breakouts (vs. just hormones) then I'd remove the serum and give at least a month to see whether the breakouts clear up.

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

Thank you for your advice:) I have stopped using the Vit C to see if it makes a difference will just be patient for now!

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

I feel your pain! It sucks not knowing whether it's a product or hormones.

And if you do find it's hormonal, once you find products that work, they will be easier to manage 🙂  I was 28 when this all started. Almost 30 now and hope that I can manage these in my 30's! If I do get hormonal breakouts, they usually pop up just before or just after "that time of the month". See if yours pop up consistently around the same time in your cycle.

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

Funny you said this because I just finished my lovely "time of the month" so maybe it is just hormonal? I will keep an eye for next month to see if it happens around the same time. I also started using a new mask (baby facial drunk elephant) so could be the cause as well! I guess I shouldn't try so many face products introduce them in slowly.... Yes it is frustrating for anyone who ever said acne was only in your teens and twenties not the case haha

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

56 years old here and cystic acne can still rear it's ugly painful head in my life!

I also introduce new products slowly (one a week if I have more than one!) to make sure I know what is - or is not - creating flare ups.  For expensive products - I usually get a 3 day sample first JUST to make sure I am not buying something that triggers my skin.

Jawline was one of my flare-up spots too!

Prescription Retinol really helped.  And seeing a dermatologist when it got really bad (shots in my face.  They are awful but they sure quieted things down when it got really ugly!)

Hugs your way! ♥♥♥

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

Thank you for the nice words of advice! I have heard of these injections you talk about ouch!!! I do have prescription retinol that I use for my forehead lines, maybe I will try to give it a go its so expensive though I will have to use sparingly on my jawline lol. Thanks!

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

I do the same thing!  I will get a bunch of new skincare samples and try them all at once.  Then when my face reacts horribly (because my face always reacts horribly) I have no idea which product caused it.  Then I have to start all over and slowly introduce them.  You'd think by now I would've learned, but I just get so excited.

Re: jawline cyst acne help!

omg too funny!!! I do the exact same thing it is so exciting trying new products but its so hard to be patient and wait to see how your face reacts to one LOL. Glad this is a common thing:)
