Re: hyperpigmentation

@ellamue Like everyone has said, exfoliation will help. There are different kinds and acid toners are my favorite. tarte mini tarteletteโ„ข lengthening & tubing mascara 5 oz/ 150 mL  does wonders and will become your best friend. While spot correctors will help, this will give your overall skin a nice, even tone and glow. It also clears out pores and makes them appear smaller. I use mine twice a day because Iโ€™ve been using acids for so long. If youโ€™re new to them, start at night, 2-3 times a week. As your skin becomes accustomed to it, you can build it up to daily use.

Adding a vitamin c will also fade dark spots and brighten. I personally use DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firmaโ„ข Day Serumbut have also tried OLEHENRIKSEN - Truth Serumยฎand Sunday Riley C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL . There are a ton on the market at different price points.

Most importantly, use an SPF every single day. Itโ€™s imperative to protect your skin when using acids and vitamin c. If you donโ€™t, the sun will cause more damage.

Re: hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation has always been one of my biggest issues!

What works for my skin is exfoliating daily (helps with dullness and allows your skin to more readily accept product ingredients) , using products containing vitamin C (Which helps correct color), a great moisturizer or oil (even if you have oily skin, dry skin is sad skin), and SPF (to protect and prevent!) . You may notice the spots getting darker before they get lighter - think of needing to bring the  "stain" to the surface before it can be "lifted" out. As for specific products, I enjoy using TATCHA PURPLE VIT-C MASK for exfoliation and vitamin C - DE MARULA OIL for added moisture and nourishment. I also enjoy using ANTHONY'S GLYCOLIC FACE WASH, and TARTE KNOCKOUT for extra exfoliation if you want to try the acid route. Everyones skin is different though. Best of luck to you!

Re: hyperpigmentation

Hi @ellamue,

Depending on your skin type there are many products that can help fade hyper-pigmentation scars. I have them too so I feel your pain. The Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution has great reviews as well as the Boscia Charcoal Spot Corrector. I also suggest exfoliating 1-2 times a week and make sure that you wear sunscreen to protect your skin and to prevent your scars from getting darker. I hope that this helps and feel free to send me a PM if you have any further questions.

Best,

Zakiya
