Tween skincare

My 10 year old sister is starting to play around with make up a little bit and I wanted to get her a gentle cleanser/make up remover. What are some good products for someone so young?

Re: Tween skincare

I am 13 and all I wear on a daily basis is mascara, so my skincare routine is pretty simple. For my night time routine, I use the Neutrogena makeup wipes to take off my mascara, and there really isn't anything special about them, they are just basic makeup wipes. After that, I use the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Cleanser, and they have a foaming one for more oily skin, and a creamy one for dry skin. Personally, I use the foaming formula and it works amazing. After that, for moisturizer, I use the BELIF - The True Cream Aqua Bomb and it honestly works amazing. The packaging is cute and kinda vintage looking so I'm sure your sister would love this moisturizer, it is extremely gentle and basic, it doesn't do anything like remove oil or acne, its just very simple. After that I use an over the counter clindamycin treatment, you put it on your spots to get them away. But if you cant get something over the counter then you can get the Clean and Clear Persa Gel 10 which is a benzyl peroxide treatment and it works very well for its drugstore price.

Also, I know you didn't ask about this but you mentioned she had been playing around with makeup. Since she is only 10, I would just let her play around with it at home and I wouldn't allow her to go outside or to school with it on, because I can guarantee that other 10 year olds wont be wearing any makeup. But if she insists on it and it seems to be a big fight, I would allow her to wear a little bit of clear mascara. I haven't found any high end ones that work amazing, because the Maybelline Great Lash clear mascara works amazing, and so does the Covergirl Professional Natural Lash. The Covergirl one has a curved wand, so it lifts up the lashes a bit more than the Maybelline one. Whichever you choose, she can also put a little bit on her eyebrows to hold them in place. Then, after she applies clear mascara to the lashes and brows she can put on a fun lip balm, like EOS or a rosebud one that you can purchase at Bath and Body Works or Sephora. I would recommend that she continue doing that until about 7th grade, when she can wear brown mascara, and curl her eyelashes, and put on the fun blush, and unfortunately you cant deny it, the concealer and powder. And of course the lipgloss!

Anyways, I really hoped this helped. I know I said a lot but I love to help out kiddos a couple years younger than me because when I was her age I sure wish I had a cool teenager to give me fun products to try instead of my mom nagging at me to wash my face. I really hope this helped you out!

My daughter is 9 and plays in makeup a lot. She uses the soy face wash from fresh and her skin glows

RE: Tween skincare

As a skin care freak, I personally would recommend the purity made simple cleanser or any cleansing oil/balm. It depends on how heavy the makeup is really. If your sister is wearing light makeup, purity should just do fine. For heavier makeup, I would recommend using cleansing oils. I would stay away from makeup wipes because they are not so great for the skin especially when used to remove eye makeup. Using wipes mean excessive tugging to the skin and especially on the eyes can cause premature wrinkles. P.S. oils dissolve makeup a lot easier and faster than other forms of makeup remover however, it can be a bit messy. In my opinion, I recommend using a micellar water first and then using purity made simple cleanser just to make sure all the makeup is removed. Hope this helps!

Re: Tween skincare

I really like the Korres Greek Yoghurt cleanser! It's great for sensitive and dry skin (like mine) and doesn't leave a residue. It's easy to use and is not ridiculously expensive. Personally, even for someone so young I'd avoid Clinique skincare. It's on par with drugstore skincare.

Re: Tween skincare

As @rmval and @Kim888 posted, Clinique is a good brand for your sister to start with - in fact, there are Clinique products I use now - skincare and makeup - and I am a long way from being a tween. You specifically mentioned a gentle cleanser / makeup remover.  The cleansers in Clinique's Take the Day Off line are excellent - they have a cleanser in balm, oil, and milk form, depending on your sister's preference.  There's also a bi-phase eye/lip makeup remover and cleansing cloths in that line as well.  Some also come in mini / travel sizes and as part of value or gift sets.

Other brands you may want to look into are First Aid Beauty, Fresh, Origins and Philosophy, as @Meg557 posted.  These brands carry cleansers that are gentle on the skin but effective at removing makeup.  Each brand also has gift sets available at Sephora so you may be able to find her a few items to try.

I'd definitely go with wipes over an oil. Oils are messy to use, and can easily migrate into the eye, causing temporary blurriness and irritation.

If you'd rather not use wipes, I'd go with a cleansing balm. It melts into an oil consistency in your hand and you can massage it over the face, removing face and eye makeup. It's easier to control than an oil, being slightly thicker. Clinique makes a great one.

clinique is hypoallergenic so it's good for sensitive ski...

clinique is hypoallergenic so it's good for sensitive skin and younger skin. Even Sephora collection remover is good. they have oil based removers, wipes, etc

I second this I think Clinique is the best way to go for someone so young
