Travel Skin Care

I will be going on a 12 hour plane ride across the world to a hot dry place. Does anyone have recommendations on what to use to prevent dry skin when traveling? I see that some people use masks but I wanted to know what masks. I would also like moisturizer recommendations for hot and dry weather. These conditions are a complete opposite to what i'm used to. All and any advice is welcome!!!

Re: Travel Skin Care

@evacetta On long flights I ALWAYS use Laniege’s Water Sleep Mask while on the plane. On shorter flights when I keep my makeup on I use it the first night at the hotel (or at home for return flights). Also, super-b complex immediately before and after the flight. Safe travels! ✈️

As others have set, a facial mist is great as it can go on right over your makeup. I would say either Smashbox Water Setting Spray or Caudalie Grape Water spray. Keep super hydrated the whole time!!! As for when you get there, I'd recommend using a good moisturizer and facemask. For a moisturizer, I'd recommend Murad Nutrient Charged Water Grl. I recently started using this stuff...and wow! Amazing! For hydrating face masks, I really like Peter Thomas Roths Cucumber Gel mask and Caudalie Moisturizing Mask. if you want a bit of extra moisture for underneath your moisturizer, I'd recommend using Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum

Re: Travel Skin Care

A facial mist is a great idea for your stay, but don't use it during the flight. When there is no humidity in the air, any water will be immediately evaporated. And if that water is fresh on the surface of your skin, it will be slurped from your face and leave you more dehydrated than you were before. Opt for an overnight mask during the flight.

As someone who lives in a dry climate, my honest suggestion would be to pick up the Laneige Hydrating Trial Kit ($25) and the Sephora Collection Hydrating Mist in Coconut ($7.50). The Laneige set includes a sleeping mask as well as other wonderfully hydrating products, and the Sephora mist is an effective yet inexpensive pick. This way, you don't have to drop a ton of money on new products but still get the skincare you need.

Re: Travel Skin Care

I agree with the facial mist, it's a most when traveling on a long haul flight. My favorite is Evian. I always skip makeup on long flights, emphasize hydration on my skincare routine that day and apply an overnight moisturizing mask onboard.  I swear by the Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleep Recovery Mask, it's kept my skin hydrated on 18 hrs flights. I recommend traveling with foil samples or small sample sizes of face wash, eye cream and moisturizer so you can refresh your skin before arrival. As to moisturizers for very dry weather, my go to is Josie Maran Aragan Oil Face Butter if my skin is dry if my skin is oily a water based moisturizer is better such as Dr Jart Water Drop or PTR Water Drench. I hope this helps and you have a nice trip!

RE: Travel Skin Care

Hi. What really helps me when my skin feels parched is a facial mist. I especially like Mario Badescu’s Rose water. At this point, I think any rose water with aloe vera would be refreshing! Hope that helps!
