Tatcha Or Drunk Elephant

To start with, I’d like to note that I’m 19 years old and very interested in expanding my skincare collection. I have combination skin with hardly any breakouts/problems. I have no issues with large pores or anything like that, the only issue I have noticed lately is redness. I’d like to stick to one brand at a time, trying a routine in either before mismatching. Which brand do you think matches what I’m looking for/has the best products? Which products do I need to try? I’d like a cleaner to remove makeup, a serum/gel moisturizer, etc. Please help, I’m so new to this and would like to conserve my money without wasting it on products I won’t like/use.#

@haileyalexis99 I agree with others. No need to invest in all expensive products yet and best thing is to start using sunscreen every day, every season.

You might want to check out his thread, it has a lot of great advice and good routines suggested -

Re: Tatcha Or Drunk Elephant

If there's one thing I wish someone had told me about skincare at that age, it would be to wear SPF daily! If you're not wearing SPF, I'd highly recommend picking one up 🙂

Re: Tatcha Or Drunk Elephant

@haileyalexis99 Since you are so young I would start off using a brand like Origins or Clinique (Clinique is the skincare brand I started with).  I don't think you need to invest in DE or Tatcha just yet.

Re: Tatcha Or Drunk Elephant

Hi @haileyalexis99  - Since you're still quite young, I'd actually recommend products from Clinique, Dermalogica, Fresh and Kiehls. I think you might like the following products -

CLINIQUE All About Clean™ Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid 5 oz/ 150 mL

DERMALOGICA - Skin Soothing Hydrating Lotion

CLINIQUE - Fresh Pressed 7-day System with Pure Vitamin C

DERMALOGICA - Prisma Protect SPF 30 Moisturizer

FRESH - Rose Deep Hydration Face Serum

KIEHL'S SINCE 1851 - Ultra Facial Cleanser

Re: Tatcha Or Drunk Elephant

I think since you are worried about redness, try Origins MegaMushroom treatment lotion (which is like an essence, but super hydrating and the fermented mushrooms are supposed to soothe redness, it is specifically made for that).   I do use that after using clay masks.   it is much more pocket friendly.   As far as your question goes, I do have Tatcha water cream, and it does feel cooling and soothing (I once got skin pain from Pharmacy makeup remover balm, and Tatcha helped relieve the pain a bit), but although it is supposed to feel "lightweight", for me it is thicker than Drunk Elephant Protini.  I love DE Protini under makeup though, super lightweight.   I have combo skin, so both feel great, so it is difficult to choose one  or the other.  it all depends how your skin will react to each.  I would use Drunk Elephant Protini in the mornings, since for me it does not rub off after putting on makeup like other moisturizers do, and Tatcha in the evening.  or if your skin is dryer in winter, try DE in the summer and Tatcha in winter.  your skin will tell you which one it likes better.   Hope this helps.  Good Luck!
