I know a lot of people esp. beauty gurus swear by the clarisonics. I for one the A) that's A Lot of money to spend on a device and B) have found that when I've tested them that they are too much for my skin.
Since I know that there are different heads now for the clarisonic and other devices similar to it out there. I want to know how do you remove your make up and clean you face and the end of the day.
SO WHAT DO YOU USE?
I have oily, sensitive, mature skin (I am 61 for reference). Clarisonic is too harsh for mature skin and I also feel that being harsh on my skin when I was young (brushes, benzoyl peroxide, non-pH balanced soaps/cleansers, astringent toners such as those with alcohol and witch hazel) led to premature aging of my skin; of course, I don't deny genetics either. I have read that French and Korean women are very gentle with their skin and avoid harsh products and devices.
My current routine:
-Simple Micellar water on a gentle cotton pad (sheshido - for my sensitive eye skin, this has really made a difference in the amount of skin irritation for me I can't use the biphasic eye makeup removers).
-Rinse the Micellar water completely and cleanse with Korres Greek Yogurt cleanser using fingers.
-Rinse the Korres completely and tone with Skin Laundry Gentle toner.
-Apply serums/anti-aging.
Once a week I add Paula's Choice weekly AHA as a before cleansing treatment between the micellar water and Korres; once a week, few days after the AHA, I use clay mask after the Korres cleanser.

I use Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo to take my eye makeup off. It works like a dream even with waterproof mascara. My optometrist recommended that I use it many years ago. For my face I use Bobbi Brown cleansing oil because it cleans and does not dry out my skin.
I use Mac makeup wipes with a few splashes of Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover to first completely remove all my makeup. I wear a lot of mascara, and my eyes are a bit sensitive to cotton balls.. so I swear by this duo. Then I wash my face with Philosophy. I alternate Philosophy Purity (soft and smooth) & Philosophy Microdelivery exfoliating face wash (scrubby) to keep my skin fresh. I have really nice skin, I am in my mid 50's, and this routine works well for me. (I did own a Clarisonic, but could not use it.. though it felt good, every time I used it, I ended up having breakouts.)
I double cleanse if I have a full face of makeup, otherwise if its just mascara and some tinted moisturizer, I use one cleanser.
For my double cleanse, I start with the "All Clean Balm" by Heimish. Its a solidified oil type cleanser which seriously melts off everything!!! Then Ill follow with my Sulwhasoo snowwise brightening cleansing foam. I loooooove both products!
@Issa1 That's like half my routine! 🙂 Love the Neogen Green Tea cleanser!
Derma-E Nourishing Rose Cleansing oil. It contains Argan and Jojoba. Great price and such a lovely smell. I'm sure you can find this at any health food store and online as well
I use my hands.
I remove my makeup with Josie Maran's Argan Oil Cleanser. It gets EVERYTHING off from waterproof mascara to "long-lasting" matte lippies. I use dry hands and rub it onto my dry face.
Then I follow with Fresh's Soy Cleanser. I have dry skin with oily t-zones, so I need something moisturizing and gentle but effective. This does the trick. Actually makes my face feel softer. My dry patches have gone away.
No tools for me except my hands. If I've got a full face of makeup (sunscreen, foundation, etc) I'll use:
- Healthy dollop of Clinique Take the Day Off Balm on a dry face, extra focus on eyelashes and lips. I look like a grease raccoon during this step 🙂
- Splash with water to turn into a milky cleanse, then rinse off.
- Follow with favorite light cleanser (Neogen Green Tea Real Fresh Foaming Cleanser), rinse
- Tone with cotton pad and Son & Park Beauty Water. If there's still a tiny bit of mascara or eyeliner residue left, the cotton pad and beauty water takes care of it!
Washing my face and doing my night skin routine feels so therapeutic at the end of a long day 🙂
I use an exfoliating battery-operated brush by Neutrogena. I wasn't willing to splurge on Clarisonic, not knowing what to expect. However, the $15 Neutrogena, with replaceable pads for make-up removal was much more my budget and I've been very happy with it.
My current routine is:
I used to use Clinique's take off the day foaming cleanser with my clarisonic to take off my makeup. Now, I don't do that. Mostly because I'm lazy and that process makes things more messy for my sink. I use a balm/jelly/oil cleanser for my makeup, then go over my face with a microfiber cloth.
