Taking it off...makeup that is

I know  a lot of people esp. beauty gurus swear by the clarisonics.  I for one the A) that's A Lot of money to spend on a device and B) have found that when I've tested them that they are too much for my skin.

Since I know that there are different heads now for the clarisonic and other devices similar to it out there. I want to know how do you remove your make up and clean you face and the end of the day.

SO WHAT DO YOU USE?

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

Konjac sponge, coconut oil, and Fresh Soy Cleanser.

1. Gently massage coconut oil onto eyes, focusing on lashes, and lips if I'm wearing a bold color or formula with umpf.

2. Wipe coconut oil off with dampened sponge. Quite a bit of makeup smear will remain at this point, but the coconut oil did its job.

3. Rinse sponge & use to moisten face all over. Use Fresh Soy Cleanser all over.

4. Remove cleanser with dampened konjac sponge, rinsing sponge frequently until all residue is removed from face/eyes/lips.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

There are so many things I love about the konjac sponge as a beauty tool. It's gentle for starters. Second, the moisture content can be adjusted depending on the application. I can load it with water for more of a rinsing effect, or, squeeze the water out then it acts to wick the Cleanser/makeup off my face. I find them less abrasive than my old Clarsonic and even wash cloths, but so much more effective than just splashing water on my face (less mess, too).

Since discovering konjac sponges, my Clarsonic has gone unused.

RE: Taking it off...makeup that is

The clarisonic is way too harsh for my skin, but I have the worst skin. I'm 30 with hypersensitive and combination skin, and moderate to awful cystic/hormonal acne on my jawline. What works best for me is an oil based cleanser to remove my makeup, especially mascara, followed by a mild salicylic foam wash, and a gentler foam wash in the morning.

I remove eye makeup using micellar water then again using oil free makeup remover by Neutrogena. Then I cleanse at night using Cerave foaming face cleanser and my Foreo. I follow them up with either thayers alcohol free witch hazel or Paula's choice calming toner.

Re: RE: Taking it off...makeup that is

The oil free makeup remover from Nueutrogena is the best thing ever!!!!!!! It gets everything off oh my god.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I usually wash my face using Cetaphil oil control foam wash and follow up my racoon eyes with a Micellar Gel makeup remover. I absolutely hate eye makeup remover but I've found the gel ones to work really well and don't leave that gross greasy feel.

I've considered a Clarsonic, but I don't know if it would be worth the value for me.

I like the clarisonic, but if you can't get it at a disco...

I like the clarisonic, but if you can't get it at a discount price, then I don't think it's worth that much. I use the Ulta makeup eraser cloths, and then a cleanser, micellar water, or exfoliator.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I honestly absolutely swear by the Makeup Eraser. I still have makeup wipes in my kit (Olay Sensitive), but the ME has saved me so, so, so, so, soooooooooooooooooo much money in terms of cutting down on the amount of wipes I use. It's deep cleaning enough that I can go straight to exfoliating when I'm done. Love love love it!

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I use coconut oil then go in with another cleanser of my choice (Purity, Cetaphil, Origins). I then go in with toner and moisturize.

RE: Taking it off...makeup that is

I would try to double cleanse method (oil cleanser + foam cleanser) followed by a good toner. On the days I wear a full face of makeup, this double cleansing methods really works. I use my hands to cleanse. Good luck!

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I think there is definitely a place for Clarisonics in a typical beauty regime but if it is out of your budget, other methods can be just as effective. I recently changed a lot about my skin regimen (including buying a Clarisonic) and I have noticed my skin is much more clear and less prone to breakouts (I have normal skin but since turning 30 have been much more prone to issues). There has been some trial and error though! I learned there is such a thing as "over-exfoliation" and it showed up on my skin in the form of red bumps. It happened from using the Clarisonic twice daily and on top of that initially changing my cleanser to one that included exfoliation...BIG MISTAKE! I now use my Clarisonic once a day/every other day and the problem "bumps" have gone away and my skin is very happy!

As far as taking makeup off without using a device and getting a good clean, I have had my world opened up by cleansing oil/cleansing balm!! I personally use the Body Shop "Sumptuous Cleansing Butter" as I'm very conscious of using more natural (and budget friendly) options but Sephora has plenty of similar options (also natural). It's a solid balm that you warm with your hands, put a few dabs on your face and work it in all over. Run a washcloth under warm water, wipe your face and you literally take off ALL makeup...no joke. It's amazing!! Also, you save money and the environment because you're not having to buy makeup remover/miscellar water and wipes to take off your makeup!! I can't say enough about this change in my skincare routine, AMAZING! (I do also follow this step with cleanser and my Clarisonic depending on the day)

Hope this helps some of you!

RE: Taking it off...makeup that is

I own a clarisonic and use it only 1-2x weekly for a deep cleaning depending on how often I've worn foundation that week. That being said, I use the gentle (radiance) head and it has performed phenomenally. What has made the most difference though, is that I will pre-cleanse with Garnier micellar water and cotton rounds, then use tatcha cleansing oil to dissolve any waterproof makeup/mascara. Lastly I use a mild foaming cleanser. Honestly whatever routine you come up with the most important thing is making sure the products work for you, and that at the end your skin is clean and hydrated.

RE: Taking it off...makeup that is

TBH, I don't like clarsonic. If used improperly the brush can cause micro-damage to your skin. There are many much more effective makeup removers that are much more gentle on your skin, and less likely to leave you with wrinkles in 10 years. The Clinique balm was mentioned and it's wonderful. I also love Pixi's cleansing balm. And honestly, you could use olive oil more effectively than a clarsonic brush.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I use a makeup wipe (whatever is on sale, or baby wipes) for the large areas of my face or body makeup then I do my mascara and lips and the smaller areas with Micellar water from Garnier and then I wash my face with a gentle cleanser then use a toner. I do keep makeup wipes next to my bed for those nights I just can't fathom doing all that (drunk nights) so at least I don't go to bed with all my makeup still on

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

To remove my makeup, I've been using Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Melting Cleanser - I apply it, and then wipe it off with a wash cloth.  Then I use DermaDoctor Kakadu C Brightening Cleanser with my Clarisonic, followed by Pixi Glow Tonic.  I LOVE that stuff.  And I love the combo!

I switch around cleansers a bit - sometimes I use something higher end or I will double cleanse with avocado oil and then Purpose Cleanser (CVS, etc)

I just picked up the Algenist I cannot wait to try it

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I LOVE my Luna Mini, it is pricey but it is much more gentle on your skin than a clarasonic and leaves me feeling super clean and refreshed. I wash my face with my luna mini  and origins zero oil cleanser AM and PM, I use a Clinique clarifying lotion 4 in the morning after I was my face and before my make up and belif aquabomb moisturizer at night.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

When I want to be a one and done, I use the Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser. It does the best job of taking off all my makeup. I don't love the bottle (wish it was a pump) but it does work very well.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

My mom had a sample size of this that I used while I was visiting her. It felt really nice, but it didn't take off my more stubborn stuff.  I am glad it works for you.

Re: Taking it off...makeup that is

I use Estee Lauder's Double Wear LongWear Makeup Remover Wipes to get rid off most of the makeup, and then I spray Lancome's Micellar Cleansing Water on a cotton pad for persistent eye makeup. Afterwards I let my skin breathe... till morning 😉
