Sunscreen to layer under bb/cc cream

I'm looking for a sunscreen that won't break me out and doesn't leave me with a ghastly white pallor. I typically wear a tinted moisturizer or bb/cc cream...I keep switching, looking for the perfect one... and while they usually do have sunscreen built in, I need a proper sunscreen to layer underneath when I know I won't be inside most of the day.

I have combination skin, can get a little oily in the t zone, and I find that a lot of sunscreens (and moisturizers for that matter) make me break out, either rapidly in little whiteheads or after a few days with big nasty deep pimples.

I've been using the Shiseido Urban Environment 42 spf and it's ok but I'm nearing the end of the bottle and ready to try something else.

I know, this is the million dollar question, I'm looking for the thing everyone wants. What's your best sunscreen recommendation?

Re: Sunscreen to layer under bb/cc cream

I absolutely love the bareMinerals Prep Step Broad Spectrum 50. It is a physical sunscreen that also acts as a primer. It feels like silk and smooths out the skin beautifully.

I prefer physical sunscreens over chemical due to the benefits they provide the skin. I also like the fact that it is not required to wait 20-30 minutes for the sunscreen to absorb, so if you are in a rush, this is the perfect product.

The product comes out white but instantly turns transparent when rubbed in. I have had no issues with breakouts and this is a first. I am very prone to breaking out, so I was happy to see that this did not effect me!

Tarte sunscreen is great too! Lightweight, soaks in right away, great under makeup.  No extreme sunscreen smell.  I would suggest getting a sample if you are unsure.

Hi ElleSFO,

I recently fell in love with the Clinique Pep Start Daily UV Protector SPF 50, and it sounds like a good fit for your needs as well! It's super lightweight, wears well under makeup, and won't turn you the dreaded ghostly white. It's also a very gently mineral sunscreen, so shouldn't contribute to breakouts either.
