Sunken eyes

I am in search for an eye cream that can help with the appearance for sunken eyes. I have tried so many eye creams, gels and masks that is labeled to help firm the under eye area and nothing has worked so far. Any product suggestions would be great!

Re: Sunken eyes

@Peony85  If your tear troughs look sunken/hollow (I also have this issue), no topical OTC cream/gel/serum will reverse that. A dermal filler like Juvaderm or Restylane is a very effective option. Very hydrating/moisturizing toners, essences, serums, creams (either full face creams or eye creams), and facial oils can plump up that skin a bit, but not nearly as much as a dermal filler can.

Since I’m not ready to go the injectable route yet, I go heavy on moisturization under my eyes and try to attract as much hydration to my undereyes as possible with serums containing hyaluronic acid. For daytime, I start with either e.l.f. Hydrating Water Essence (applied all over my face, including my undereyes) or a Paula’s Choice toner (I’m currently testing a couple of them). Then I apply  Farmacy Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry 1.0 oz/ 30 mL under my eyes and elsewhere on my face. Once that’s soaked in, I tap a little water on my undereyes to dampen that skin, then immediately apply my full face moisturizer, Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Lightweight Face Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid 2 oz / 59 mL . I always apply at least 2 layers of any moisturizer under my eyes—letting one layer soak in before applying the next layer—because it’s the driest skin on my face, but also because “over-moisturizing” that skin can help plump it up a bit (though again, you won’t get anywhere near the results of a dermal filler with an OTC topical product). Some mornings, I layer a very moisturizing facial oil under the YTTP cream. My favorites for daytime are e.l.f. Nourishing Facial Oil and HERBIVORE - Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil.

At night, my toner/essence step depends on whether or not it’s a chemical exfoliation night. But every night, I use DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum to firm my undereyes and get all the benefits of retinol + antioxidants. I follow that with THE ORDINARY - Buffet all over my face, then continue with my layered moisturizer technique.

If topicals aren’t giving you the results you want, even after applying 2 or more layers of them under your eyes, ask a dermatologist about dermal fillers. I hope you find something that works for you!
