Sunday Riley Good Genes- how do you use it???

I recently got Good Genes but was confused by the directions on how to use it. It says to apply as needed but another part says to leave on for ten minutes. I even called Sephora and they agreed directions were confusing and couldn't tell me what to do. Are you supposed to leave it on or rinse off? Thanks!

It can be used both ways—mostly as overnight or all day. If you want to use it as a mask, add the Ceramic Slip Clay cleanser. It says somewhere that you mix the two, leave on for 10-15 minutes, then wash off. Sephora sells it as a kit, actually—for $28.

I have never heard of using it as a mask. 

I follow Caroline Hirons, although the directions say to apply after Luna Oil she recommends applying it right after toner then moisturizer or oil or whatever you use, if you are not using Luna oil.

It depends on if your skin is sensitive or not. My skin isn’t sensitive at all so I used it every night and left it on til morning from the first day. I never had a reaction and have been in love with Good Genes going on 5 years now. I’ve used other lactic acids but always find myself going back to this. My advice would be to try it as a mask first. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash it off. If you don’t see any reactions, try it after a couple days and leave it overnight. If you’re ok in the morning, start with every other to every two nights and make your way to every night if you want.

@Anonymous you can use it both ways-as a mask or as a daily treatment. If this is your first time using this type of product it is recommended that you start of slow to avoid a reaction on the skin. You can start using as a mask for 5 minutes the 1st day then go from there depending on how your skin reacts to it. If you have no reactions after a week then it should be safe to wear daily preferably at night because you will not be exposing your skin to the sun which your skin will be sensitive to when using this product. During the day remember to use sunscreen spf 30 or higher to avoid the reversal of the work that good genes will be doing for your skin at night. Hope this helps!!!

You ca use it either way! I have skin on the sensitive side, so I use it as a mask treatment. For the first week or so I only used it every few days but it hasn’t bothered my skin at all so now I use it daily. For others who are used to using harsher products or don’t have sensitive skin bit can be left on and used after cleansing, before applying your daily moisturizer.

I would only use it a few times a week at most. You can leave it on, but wait 5-15 minutes before applying anything else after it. If you are using it with Ceramic Slip as a mask, then you can wash it off.

I apply it every night after a toner, and before moisturizer. I’m guessing you don’t have to rinse it off unless maybe your skin is very sensitive, and you only leave it on for ten minutes at first to see how you handle it? You’ll love it-it really does make a difference, and it’s one of my indispensable skin care products!

I totally agree! Not only has my skin felt way more smooth since using it,

it also looks more even, and overall healthy.

My skin is pretty resistant, so it took me a few weeks. Other people have said they’ve seen a difference overnight, though.
