Step by step routine

I’m pretty new to skin care. Can anyone give me a step by step routine? (Bonus if you have product recommendations but I’m more caught up in the steps.) I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed with everything. Double cleanse... toners? serums? hyaluronic acid??? masks and moisturizer... Thanks in advance!

That YouTube channel is called “Beauty Within”! Check them out!

RE: Step by step routine

1.) Eye makeup remover: Clinique (gentle and really cleans without leaving residue. 2.)Cleansers: obviously it’s there to clean everything off your face but without knowing what kind of skin you’re working with I recommend: Caudalie Foaming Cleanser, Youth to the People Green Tea cleanser, and Korres Greek Yoghurt cleanser All of those are “Clean ingredient” products and I recommend to any type of skin (Korres is the most moisturizing and gets all the makeup off for me in one wash) but I love them all and regularly buy all of them. 3.) Toner: you use it after washing your face to prep your skin for your serums/moisturizer but also, it can further treat your skin. For example, the REN Glycolic Toner noticeably brighten my skin but also helps even out my skin tone, fights off bacteria through the day etc. my favorite moisturizing toner is Laneige’s “moisturizing 2 in 1” toner as it amazing for dry days or when I have sunburn. 4.) serums: this is something you could wait to purchase as you can a handle on what your skin needs through your cleansers/toners/moisturizer process. You may need to tighten/brighten/fight acne/tend to your pores etc. so until you’re understand the way your skin is reacting I say hold off. But if you feel you MUST try something right away. (And again, without knowing any information about your skin) You should start with Something with Hyaluronic Acid (excellent source of clean hydration). “The ordinary” makes a very affordable one. And gently press serums into your face - don’t rub it in. You won’t get the true effect of its workings. 5.) Moisturizer: Never ever skip moisturizer. General recommendations for “clean” moisturizers I have are: Youth to the people’s moisturizer (the light green one..totally forgetting the real name of it...but it’s great and good for all skin types in my opinion.), Farmacys Honey Moisturizer is the lightest one I use but not too light. I get more use from it if I use it in the morning time or Summer time. And the other two recommendation I have is Belief’s original moisturizer which Is not labeled a “clean” product but it’s definitely a great product. (I also like their eye cream), and Shesido’s Waso moisturizer is the most moisturizing of all my recs but absorbs quickly and beautifully(!!!). Extra tips: When I’m not too lazy, I get an ice cube to go over my face right after I wash my face. The way it makes my face feel is absolutely revitalizing and the feeling lasts well after I’m done with my regimen. Also, I have learned *so* much from this YouTube channel about skincare- like the actual chemistry of a product and ingredients and problems based on different kinds of skin etc. I have to post the name (blanking again) after I post this response! I hope this helps you!!

Thank you!!

Re: Step by step routine

The best tip if you're just starting out is to start small! A common beginners routine looks like this:

1 - Cleanse

2 - Moisturize

3 - Sunscreen

Once you've nailed down those 3 steps with products you like you can start to add to your routine! Start simple and work your way up

It took me a full year to nail down my complete routine, figuring out things my skin liked and didn't like! My full routine looks like this:

1 (Cleanse) - FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm

2 (Cleanse) - First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser – Gentle Hydrating Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL

3 (Toner) - The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner 8 oz/ 240 mL

4 (Hydrating Oil) - First aid beauty Canabis oil

5 (Hydrating Mask) - ORIGINS - Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins™ Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Soothing Face Mask

6 (Eye Cream) - Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum 0.5 oz/ 15 mL

7 (Moisturizer) - THE ORDINARY - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

8 (Lip Mask) - BITE BEAUTY - Agave+ Intensive Vegan Lip Mask

Thank you! I’ve got cleansers and moisturizer down but everything in between is so overwhelming. Love love love Green Clean!

You're welcome! Green clean is what helped me finally get rid of my stubborn closed comedones. I highly recommend checking out SkinCareAddiction on Reddit if you have more questions, everyone is super helpful there
