Skincare Ingredient That Cannot be Combined

Are there any skincare ingredients that you guys know for sure shouldn't be mixed together? I use a lot of products in my regime and I wanna make sure that the products I use don't cancel eachother out!

RE: Skincare Ingredient That Cannot be Combined

Is this just not to mix in the same day for products toge...

Is this just not to mix in the same day for products together being used same day or is it just in general overall do not have them in your skincare routine in any day together or not together, do not have in skincare routine?

Hmmmm, I like that post. Not the "don't mix these", the one under it. The internet is indeed a dumpster, one that contains falsehoods like "don't mix vitamin c and niacinamide" over and over and over.

You *can* mix vitamin c and niacinamide.

You *can* use salicylic acid with an AHA BHA peel mask (SA is just more BHA...it might be overkill, but there's no danger from clashing ingredients).

I have read somewhere once to be careful with copper peptides, that they might be a bit fragile and prone to deactivation with the right (well, wrong) ingredients, but I've never researched it further to confirm or deny. Based on the other (incorrect) info this random internet person is passing along, I'm not necessarily inclined to believe it, but it could warrant a deeper look.

The only thing you really need to keep in mind is benzoyl peroxide works best alone. If it's in your routine, use it first after cleanse/tone, let it dry, then move on to everything else. And maybe investigate the stability of copper peptides if you are interested in them.

What I can say with certainty is this: niacinamide, vitamin c, AHA, BHA, retinol, all of these can be used together in a routine, even on the same day, if your skin will tolerate them. Building up tolerance and listening to your skin is the key, but they won't deactivate each other or cause harmful reactions. Mix and match to your heart's content 😊
