Skin concern

Hey I need some help on figuring out what to do with my skin. I’ve always had rough skin but recently it has gotten worse. I thought this was due to not exfoliating but then I did some research and maybe it’s from over exfoliating?? I’ve been recently using glow recipe toner every night and then Paula’s choice exfoliator 3 times a week. I wanted to ask about this because I wanted to start to repair my skin barrier if it’s broken or keep using the Paula’s choir because maybe I haven’t been consistent enough? I also want to add that I started to dermaplane my face and maybe my skin is upset because I used Paula’s choice exfoliater after.

Re: Skin concern

So it does look like over exfoliating to me as well (and I have done this to myself before 😅 I know how it feels) I would suggest maybe getting a very gentle cleanser Clarins Gentle Foaming Soothing Cleanser 4.2 oz/ 125 mL  is one that may help. There are also things to help repair your skin barrier like The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum for Sensitive Skin Hydration 1 oz  or Drunk Elephant Bora Barrier Rich Repair Refillable Cream with 6-Butterlipid Complex 1.69 oz / 50 mL . These are both to help repair skin barriers and I hope this helped. 🤗 ❄️

Re: Skin concern

@sparkleness Looking at that part of your routine and the frequency, it might be over-exfoliation. You have PHA in one product and BHA in both the toner and the exfoliant. All of these cause the top layer of your skin to shed (exfoliating in the process). This might be just a bit too much for your skin.

I would recommend dropping both from your routine for a few days to give your skin time to rest, then add one back into your routine. Start with a low frequency, maybe twice a week and see how it goes. Increase the frequency after a few weeks and see how it goes. You can dial it back down if your skin gets irritated again. If you really want to incorporate both, you can try alternating when you use each product. The exfoliation really only needs to be done once every few days.

To help with the repair process, you can look at The INKEY List Bio-Active Ceramide Repairing and Plumping Moisturizer + Barrier Strengthening 1.7 oz or #The Ordinary Soothing & Barrier Support Serum 1 oz / 30 ml. Tower 28 Beauty SOS Daily Hypochlorous Acid Spray for Breakouts & Redness 4 oz/ 120 mL can help with redness, irritation, and possible infections from a broken skin barrier.

I hope you find relief soon!

@sparkleness @Have you seen a dermatologist?

Re: Skin concern

No I haven’t because my skin hasn’t been terrible. No one notices it but my camera sure does when I zoom in😭
