Skin care routine

Hi to all those who may be able to help me. I want to start a simple skincare routine. Nothing to expensive either.

•A bit to know about my skin is I'm 18, soon to be 19. So an anti-aging definitely won't be recommended. I don't have too much acne or pimples aside from when it's that time of the month but I do have a semi oily face around my t-zone as well as I have "sebaceous filaments" on my nose area that I'd like to get rid of.

•Products I'm so far using (but I need more professional recommendations)

•Certaphil moisturizing lotion (highly with a spin brush)

•Certaphil gentle face wash (nighly)

•Proactv acne treat, trainer (nightly)

•The ordinary niacinamide (morning and night)

•The ordinary salicylic acid (a couple days a week, I don't use it with the niacinamide)

•A rice toner from winners (nighly)

•A face scrub from winners (nighly)

(The two products from winners I used the Yuka app to make sure it's safe)

•What I'm looking for..

•I'd like to keep using the proactv as well as my face wash as I don't want to spend lots of money on face care

•I'd like something that could help with my sebaceous filaments

•Maybe something that could help make my skin look healthier and feel healthier by giving me a glowup WITHOUT looking oily

•Products under $20. (Honestly the serums in the ordinary are my price range)

Thank you!

Re: Skin care routine

The Paula's choice BHA is supposed to work wonders for people's pores, the mini bottle is 18$ so that may be a good substitute for the Inkey List salisylic acid. If you don't like that option then the mandelic acid or succinic acid treatments by the Inkey List would be good for pores and oil. You could benefit from double cleansing too, especially if you wear makeup.

If you wanna look 'glowy' then the niacinamide dew drops by glow recipe are a bestseller. Tatcha is another great option and they use fermented rice. I believe the water cream is for oily skin and the dewy cream for dry skin.

You should figure out your skin care needs and build a routine based on that. Your current products are designed for a variety of needs. Like your cleanser is gentle, but if you are oily then you may need something that's more stripping. The niacinamide and salicylic acid are great for oily skin, which is good for your T-zone. You should also by applying moisturizer and SPF in the morning. If you are very oily you could also benefit from cleansing in the AM as well.

Also just a suggestion.. but you don't need to exfoliate everyday, I'd suggest cutting that face scrub back to like once a week. Alot of physical exfoliants are extremely harsh on the face and you use salicylic acid (BHA) so you don't need that much exfoliation.

Hope this helps 🙂

Re: Skin care routine

If you're to try different brands here's a list of some that are relatively in your budget:

First aid beauty, ceraVe, Cetaphil, Aveeno, inkey list, the ordinary, Paula's choice, good molecules, la Roche Posay, cocokind, innisfree, k-beauty!

K-beauty brands:

CosRx, iunik, skin1004, beauty of joesen

I've had more success with the k-beauty brands for clearing blackheads but Sephora doesn't have it.

Also no one likes to talk about it, but other factors like high-pollution or smog, not wearing sunscreen, diet, sleep, stress, not drinking enough water, not washing bedding often, and imbalance in hormones, are all things that can also lead to clogged pores. My skin texture improved once I started sleeping 8h, finished school, and moved out of a high pollution area (this one had the most noticeable impact on me). This stuff isn't always in someone's control but it's just other things to consider in case it feels like nothing is working.

For glowy skin:

Numbuzin no.3 skin softening serum,

Beauty of Joesen Glow serum with propolis + niacinamide.

innisfree Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist 2.53 oz/ 75 mL

Vitamin C is great for dull skin but can be irritating. Hyaluronic acid+niacinamide is great for hydrating the skin and giving a glow

Good luck!!
