Self tanner

Looking for recommendations

Re: Self tanner

@mushtush Good ones are Loving Tan, Vita Liberata, St. Tropez.

Re: Self tanner

I use two brands, both not at Sephora. First is Loving Tan in Ultra Dark. This has more of a green base. It’s now available at Ulta. Second is Sosu Dripping Gold in Ultra Dark. This one has a more red base. I have been self-tanning once a week for years and already have a tan complexion. If you are a lighter shade, I suggest starting with medium and working your way up if you want a deeper color.

I also recommend grabbing an exfoliating mitt. I used the Loving Tan one for a few years and just purchased a St Tropez one here, on Sephora. Both do the same thing. They prep your skin for application as well as take off any left over tan. I also use a body oil on my feet, knees and elbows, as well as a thick lotion like Nivea on them so the tanner doesn’t stick. This avoids having really dark knees and elbows.

I also use the applicator mitt. My husband does my back for me, but you can get a back applicator for those hard-to-reach places.

Lastly, to prolong you tan, do not use a loofa until a couple days before you’re going to reapply. I use L’Occitaine Almond Shower Oil with my hands. This keeps your skin hydrated while cleansing. I also use Khiel’s Dry Oil and Body Butter after my shower to further hydrate.

Its a lot, I know. I’ve tried almost every self-tanner out there and the ones I mentioned have worked the best. I used to bathe in the sun with no SPF whatsoever. Now that I’ll be 40 next year, I want to keep my skin as youthful as possible. And that means...no sunbathing.
