Rosacea

Hi everyone, I noticed there is no group for Rosacea ( I think there should be!) I was recently diagnosed and was wondering how many out there share this condition? What’s your favorite products?

Re: Rosacea

I honestly was hoping there was a group for rosacea too

Re: Rosacea

Hi @KimNB ! What subtype of rosacea do you have? I have mild subtype 1, which is mostly flushing with visible dilated blood vessels and occasional papules/pustules. My skin is also mighty sensitive, so I look up ingredients for every single product I put on my face. It's tedious, but I think it's saved me a lot of trouble. My skin responds well to allantoin, panthenol, chamomile, niacinamide, and squalane among others.

I'm not much help with skincare because I use my aesthetician's private label products, but I've been working in Paula's Choice Enriched Calming Toner with good results so far. If you need a sunscreen, I recommend Elta MD. It's one of the few I've tried that does its job and doesn't break me out.

For makeup, my current jam is ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 40 - Fragrance-Free Foundation Kokkini ST12, which is loaded with allantoin, aloe, and niacinamide. If I want something with a little more coverage or I have a special event, I go for MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. I also love two powder foundations: MAKE UP FOR EVER - Matte Velvet Skin Blurring Powder Foundation and Omiana Loose Mineral Powder Foundation.

Re: Rosacea

I used to say I have bad rosacea, but then I saw some pics of people who have it REALLY bad..so now I'd say I have moderate rosacea.. the kind where you also get the bumps (I get them on my cheeks and chin, sometimes on the nose too). I'm ALWAYS red, and I ALWAYS have at least some bumps.. so when people speak of "flares", I really don't know what that means lol in that case, I've been "flaring" for 10 years straight 😛

Right now I'm having some luck (with that I mean - it's still there, but reduced) with Riversol skincare (riversol.com), and then from Sephora I enjoy Ren Skincare (the sensitive line) and will be trying First Aid Beauty as I hear good things. I've tried expensive makeup, but really I've had the best luck with MAC Studio Sculpt foundation even though many seem to hate it, and right now I'm very pleasantly surprised by the Revlon Colorstay foundation (Normal/Dry), and Maybelline Fit Me concealer from the drugstore.

I also find that drinking loads of water, resting, low stress, and eating Paleo have helped a bit. For skincare, avoid fragrance and colour. I've had some excellent results with extremely fragranced Estee Lauder skincare and serums, but then I saw the ingredients list... and no thank you. I'm not always strictly natural, but I do try to stick more to that side of the spectrum. So even though I was surprised by how well my skin responded to those serums, I just choose not to use it anymore.

Good luck! 🙂

Re: Rosacea

I have moderate rosacea.  I tried all of the Dr. Jart products everyone raves about, but found them ineffective.  Currently, I am trying to the Ordinary's recommended rosacea treatment:  Hyaluronic Acid, Natural Moisturizing Factors, and Azelaic Acid.  I use CeraVe face wash and their AM cream for some SPF.  I am allergic to most sunscreens, but it is imperative to find one that works for you.  I am also really trying to not use anything with fragrance on my face.  It is very difficult.  So many face products are full of fragrance, which is especially bad for rosacea.  Find a good dermatologist.  Good luck!

RE: Rosacea

I’m naturally a very fair skinned ginger (who hated sun screen as a child) and finding a product to get rid of my dark/red spots was really challenging until I started using the Drunk Elephant C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum. I was recommended this product by a Sephora worker about two years ago but was very hesitant to buy it due to its price. A year ago I decided to bite the bullet as I had a gift card and it was totally worth it (the bottle lasted me a year). Within two weeks of consistently using the serum, I could see results. After one year of using it, it has cleared up all of my dark acne scar spots and the redness onmy face from sun damage! I apply the vitamin c serum at night before bed by squirting some product onto my index finger and applying it to the discoloured areas on my face. I feel this formula spreads really nicely meaning you only need a little product for each use. I found the formula is a little sticky but fixed this issue by applying my moisturizer (or a night cream if you have one) 5 minutes after I applied the victim c serum (to let the vitamin c serum settle in). I even use this product to help reduce the redness/inflammation of acne. If I notice a blackhead I will dab a bit of product on it before bed - the next day the redness is gone! Long story short this product is expensive but it is long lasting and worth it.

Re: Rosacea

I've tried numerous products in the past including Dr. Jart Tiger grass cream but I truly haven't found anything that I felt was worth it whether because it didn't calm redness well enough or tame it for long enough. As far as coverage, I like the Stila one step correct. It had a generous amount of both good and bad reviews but worked well for me, especially for a no makeup type of day. I believe Sephora discontinued the product for whatever reason but it is still available. I'm glad you posted about Rosacea. I'd love any insight or feedback as well.
