Rosacea SOS

Does anyone have any recommendations for rosacea? I have tried so many different cleansers and serums but haven't had any luck. I am looking for a skincare routine that could help🙏

Re: Rosacea SOS

I have severe rosacea. I’ve noticed that adjusting my life activities helped cured it.

stay away from the sun, red wine, energy drinks, cigarettes, stressing, hot temperatures.
I also found that makeup wipes, essential oils, clay masks and chemical peels/sunscreens are extremely irritating for my rosacea.

For products, I really like Exederm Hydrocortisone and Kiehls Calendula Calming Petal-Infused Mask for flare up treatments. Paula Choice’s Azealic Acid is also great but can be irritating if you use a lot. Also, ice rolling balls are amazing for my flare ups. I still haven’t found a cleanser for my rosacea prone skin. If somebody could help me out that would be great, thanks.

Re: Rosacea SOS

Hi! I also have rosacea and I really like using the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream 1.69 oz/ 50 mL and the other products on the Cicapair line from dr. Jart. I also use items from la roche posay; and while they are not from Sephora, you can buy their products at target or online. I use their hydrating gentle cleanser and their hydrating moisturizer as well. The ingredients in all of these products I have mentioned are very good and formulated for sensitive skin.

Hope this helps!

Re: Rosacea SOS

All the earlier suggestions in this thread are great. I have tried most of these products and I regularly use quite a few of them. I will be wanting to try out the sunscreen recommendation.

I like The Ordinary's Squalane Cleanser because although it comes in a squeezy tube, it is similar in texture to a makeup remover balm, and I like to lightly massage my skin with it. It is very gentle and very inexpensive compared to a lot of products.

Caudalie Grape Water is a refreshing, skin-calming mist that does not have any irritating ingredients. It is practically part of my first-aid kit. Any time my skin feels tight or burned, it helps right away. I haven't yet found another mist that has such gentle ingredients at a similarly low cost per ounce.

The thing that helped me with my rosacea more than anything was realizing that chemical sunscreens were exacerbating the flare-ups I used to get on my cheeks, notably on days when I was stuck driving in late afternoon sun. My cheeks would be glowing red, hot to the touch and a little painful, almost all the way down to my jawline. I switched to physical sunscreens only on my cheeks/rosacea and break-out areas, and since then I have only had a handful of flare-ups like those. It has been a couple years now.

I have since gone back to using a combo of chemical and physical sunscreens on parts of my face where I don't have rosacea issues, where the exclusive use of physical sunscreen was causing me very dry skin.

Which physical sunscreens have you been using to help? I'...

Which physical sunscreens have you been using to help? I'm going to try the ordinary's 2 products (the squalene cleanser you recommended & the serum pp recommended). I have had luck with the Dermalogica Ultracalming line with the active moist moisturizer (their Ultracalming mist feels sooo good when I have inflammation & heat!) and FAB. Not a fan of the coconut tiny sunscreen, though. I received that in a kit I'd bought a couple years ago.

Re: Which physical sunscreens have you been using to help? I'...

Sorry I didn't ever see this. I'm currently mostly using REN Clean Skincare Clean Screen Mattifying Face Sunscreen SPF 30 1.7 oz/ 50 mL, as well as the mineral SPF 30 by the Ordinary which I have to order from the Deciem website. I love both of those. I mix Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi into the one from the Ordinary, to get rid of the white cast. Haven't tried D-Bronzi with the REN one just yet.

I liked the Paula's Choice RESIST Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense Face Sunscreen SPF 30 2 oz/ 60 mL   as well as the Paula's Choice RESIST Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 2 oz/ 60 mL , but the latter especially seemed more like a layer of skincare than a layer of SPF to me, and I felt like it wasn't enough protection on its own. The former I find similar to the SPF products by Drunk Elephant, in that to apply it successfully, because of its slightly gummy texture, it really only works for me if I use a dry beautyblender sponge to pat it on and smooth it out.

(I have one of the cheek-sized beautyblender sponges that I keep squashed into my empty tin of Supergoop Cloud 9 sunscreen -- loved the idea of the recyclable tin, despite the ew factor of dipping my fingers into it, but I won't repurchase Cloud 9 because it didn't protect my skin well enough. I had some breakthrough flareups while using it.)

I prefer to apply REN's SPF with the sponge too, not because it has a gummy texture, but rather because it is ... I dunno ... a bit grippy? I feel like I have to work fast to apply it. It doesn't seem to leave a white cast on me though.

Anyway to summarize:

REN -- love it

the Ordinary -- love it

Paula's Choice, both kinds I have tried -- not enough protection on their own to prevent flareups, but enjoy as SPF skincare layers

Supergoop Cloud 9 -- not enough protection but wonderfully portable

I use all BareMinerals Brand for everything

Re: Rosacea SOS

have dry rosacea dermatitis. Lucky me huh? I know your frustration. The products that I found thus far that help and do not irritate me are:

First Aid Beauty: Face cleanser..You can use either of the 2 they have. I use the one in the tube. Only wash face at night and use only lukewarm water during the day. Only use your finger to wash.

The Ordinary: Niacinamide Serum no matter your skin type. It helps the redness. Use am and pm

First Aid Beauty: Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum..Use am and pm

The INKEY List: Snow Mushroom Hydrating Gel Moisturizer.Use am and pm

First Aid Beauty: Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

Sunscreen: Not sold on Sephora. Suntegrity Impeccable skin or 5-in-1 Both are tinted sunscreens with different skin tones.

The INKEY List: Snow Mushroom Hydrating Gel Moisturizer.Use am and pm

I do not use any foundation. Just using the Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer and Suntegrity tinted sunscreen work wonderful.

I truly hope this helps.
