Rosacea Dry Skin

My skin has been so incredibly dry this winter that my rosacea has become inflamed and I’ve been having breakouts. What is a good moisturizer? I’ve tried everything and nothing is thick enough or lasts long enough! Please help!

Rosacea Dry Skin

First, it is important to remember that there are actually different types of rosacea. So what works for someone else may cause a flare up for you or have no effect. I have seen seperate dermatologists in NY and SF and they both told me the same thing, to stop putting anything on my rosacea that wasn't prescribed. I never put anything on my rosacea that wasn't specifically formulated to treat red, sensitive skin but the pinkness persisted. I only recently truly listened to that advice and cut out everything from the affected area (including all of my Dr. Jart Cicapair products) Now I ONLY apply prescription Soolantra and some Eletone on top and for the first time in years all of my redness is gone. If seeing a dermatologist is not an option for you Dr. Jart, Avene, and Klairs all make products that are focused on soothing redness. Good luck!

Re: Rosacea Dry Skin

After cleansing, I use Hado Labo Gokujyun lotion (rich). It's a gentle hyaluronic lotion that I put on instead of toner to prep my skin. Then I go in with either Cerave PM or Gold Bond Ultimate Restoring lotion (yes, on my face.) Then finish up with eyes, etc.

I had some horrible rosacea eruptions in January after I found out the skincare set I had wasn't geared towards sensitive/rosacea skin.

I use Prosacea after Hado Labo if I'm having the bumps or itches. Just on the trouble spots, then go on with moisturizer or leave it to breathe for the night and moisturize heavy in the morning. Hope you find something that helps! It's no fun.

Re: Rosacea Dry Skin

@danajaalouk I swear by CeraVe PM.  If you are looking for something thicker, try the moisturizing lotion from Cetaphil from their Redness Relieving line.  Good luck!

Re: Rosacea Dry Skin

Try L'occitane Heavy Comforting Cream. It reduces redness, and if it's too heavy, try the Loccitane Light comforting cream instead 🙂

Re: Rosacea Dry Skin

I swear by Neutrogena's HydroBoost products: serum, moisturizer, eye gel, etc. Other moisturizers were way too heavy and it felt like my face was suffocating. This is light but effective. Goes well with my prescription for Rhofade from my dermatologist. (He recommended the Neutrogena stuff after I"d already discovered it, so I felt some encouragement.)

Good luck!

RE: Rosacea Dry Skin

Winters here in the already dry desert have always wrecked my skin.. I recently (less than a week) started using first aid beauty ultra repair cream and OMG. Such a difference already. It's also made for sensitive skin so I'm sure it will be great for for rosacea as it has helped allot with eczema for me.

Re: Rosacea Dry Skin

Although this product is expensive I recommend trying Consonant HydrExtreme. It's a very light water like serum but it hydrates your skin so well. I use it in combination with my other products and I just love it. You also don't need very much... a few drops will do. It helps with dry patches and even with eczema (for me anyways). This is one product I will not go without. It's sold on Sephora.ca but if you are in the US you can check Costco. It was available there at one point for much cheaper.

Re: Rosacea Dry Skin

Have you tried Ole Henriksen's Nurture Me? It worked great for me.

RE: Rosacea Dry Skin

I have dry redness prone skin. All I’ve really been using recently is an eye cream and Josie maran oil on my face morning and night and my face has cleared up so much and it’s so bright. I’m about to buy Tatcha’s “violet C radiant mask” I’ve heard it’s good for rosacea and redness. I’ve heard vitamin C is good for redness. I had been trying to hydrate my skin by overcompensating by using too much product. Doesn’t matter how “good” the product was it was too much for my skin. So just a light oil works perfectly. Loving my skin right now.
