Retinol with vit c?

Hi everyone - So I just purchased the new Fresh Black tea advanced age renewal cream and wondering if anybody knows if this can be combined with vit c moisturizer? I am currently using CEO from Sunday Riley.

I read through the ingredients of the Fresh cream and it claims that it has retinol-like property, not “real” retionol. And I heard that layering both retinol and vit c could irritate your skin. Soooo the question is would it also irritate skin if I layer these 2 products? Or should I just use CEO in the morning and keep night time routine to Fresh?

Any advice/recommendations would be appreciated!! Thanks! 🙂

Re: Retinol with vit c?

@pookiesugar vitamin C and retinols/retinoids can be used at the same time 🙂

Re: Retinol with vit c?

Hi @pookiesugar ! The Fresh and Sunday Riley products you mentioned are both moisturizers. Unless your skin’s very dry, you probably don’t need to layer 2 moisturizers. If you do want/need to do that, these 2 might be fine to layer, depending on your skin’s tolerance of them. They both contain squalane which is a very good emollient moisturizing ingredient. But for some people’s skin, too much squalane can feel too heavy and greasy. When in doubt, patch test.

Even if the Fresh cream contained retinol, it’d still be fine to layer with the other cream. Retinol and vitamin C don’t counteract. The only reason not to layer those 2 ingredients is your skin tolerance level.

Re: Retinol with vit c?

@pookiesugar  For a normal retinol you would only use it at night and the vitamin c during the day. I would say you are safe to use it both morning and night since it is not a true retinol. You could always do a patch test with both to see if you have irritation.
