Reaction Biossance Squalane Oil

Has anyone else had a reaction to Biossance Squalane Oil? (just the plain oil itself not any of the combo ones).

I have incredibly sensitive skin and I bought it about a week ago and I started slowly 1x/ day then got a breakout/ some exzema but like I said my skin is so reactive I didn’t automatically assume that was the cause but in the past week my skin has just become horrific looking and I have gotten serious acne which is not typical. Has anyone else had this experience?

RE: Reaction Biossance Squalane Oil

The Squalane Oil from Biossance is great for sensitive skin but as @Brutalitops mentioned there could still be something in it that doesn’t agree with your skin. Are you using the regular Squalane oil or the Squalane Vit C Rose oil? Sometimes the vitamin C or the rose can bother sensitive skin. If you’re just using the regular Squalane oil you may be a personal sensitivity to the oil. You could try using FAB Hydrating serum as an alternative to keep your skin calm and to help lock in hydration. Another possibility for the reaction could be related to hormonal changes that happened to occur coincidentally when you used the oil. I have eczema, especially during the winter months living in the desert. I notice my skin tends to flair up and becomes even more reactive during hormonal shifts. Hope this helps.

@AnonymousI don't have super sensitive skin but I haven't reacted to any of their oils. I wonder if it isn't a combination of products or like an environmental issue? Squalane is non-comedogenic but that doesn't mean it can't cause other issues I suppose I just can't imagine it would cause that kind of reaction.

I would definitely stop using it and see how fast it clears up and maybe try again, if it happens twice it's definitely the oil

Re: Reaction Biossance Squalane Oil

No well that’s what I mean.... I have multiple chemical sensitivity that’s why I am trying this because I literally can’t use anything, face creams nothing. I had just switched from vitamin e oil because I heard this was so good and I noticed my skin doesn’t look as great as it used to because I can’t use anything to make it look good lol. It’s a nightmare so I don’t use any other products...I will definitely stop for a few days and see what happens. Thanks so much for replying!

Re: Reaction Biossance Squalane Oil

I also have multi-chemical sensitivities. When Biossance first came back on the market and rebranded to what we see today on Sephora, I saw it on IG and immediately bought the discounted offers before they re-launched since it was a lot cheaper. My skin was amazing and I was shocked that I didn't get any reaction to it so I became LOYAL and purchased so many of their products but their 100% Squalane was my favorite bc I knew that was the only ingredient that I didn't react to. My skin was GLOWING.

However after 2 years, my skin developed a sensitivity to it and my face went through a huge hives reaction for months (still somewhat recovering now from last year, 1 full year now). I had scaly, dry, flakey itchy swollen skin. I've been trying everything under the sun since. Recently I found that jojoba oil was a good alternative for my skin - specifically this one from Crane & Carbon (a local Phoenix brand I discovered): https://craneandcarbon.com/face/purifying-oil. Hope it helps!
