Product recommendations for sensitive skin

hi all. i desperately need some advice and product recommendations. firstly, i'll give a brief overview:

gender: male

skin type: dry and sensitive (due to mild eczema), bumpy, some hyperpigmentation (which i assume is from acne i used to have), but it also does get oily/shiny occasionally

hair type: coarse and dry (both being 6 on a scale of 1-10)

current skincare regimen: cetaphil gentle cleanser (morning and night), prescription Retin-A (2-3 times a week at nighttime), cerave moisturizer

allergies: peanuts/all nuts (almond, walnut, etc.), soy

known sensitivities: citrus (dries out my skin), salicylic acid (don't use it at all)

goals: to get rid of the bumpiness, hyperpigmentation, and just overall even out my skin.

i'm looking for recommendations on new skincare and haircare products i can use. i have mild eczema, so a lot of products are a no-go for me because of fragrances or ingredients, so i tend to play it safe and not take any chances. i'm just looking for safe options that are tried and true for those who have eczema or super sensitive skin. plus, it would be great if the product is effective and actually works. i'd love to hear any suggestions of facial cleansers, facial masks, toners, etc. the more the better!

in terms of haircare, i'm looking for a shampoo and conditioner that has some benefits in it. i'm looking to not only cleanse the hair, but nourish it and also treat/prevent dandruff. i currently use shampoo that's dye-free and even though it gets the job done, i want something different. any recommendations in sephora or even in other stores (dove, suave, etc.) would be greatly appreciated!

sorry for the long list but i hope you all will be able to help me!

Re: Product recommendations for sensitive skin

@adss1230 I don't see a spf listed, which is important with retinol, sun sensitivity possible. Also hyperpigmentation can get darker without spf.

spf made for sensitive skin, Elta MD and Cotz. Australian Gold Botanicals another option that's ok for me.

La Roche posay for skincare, brand made for sensitive skin or Dermalogica ultracalming (there's a trial kit). I don't have dry skin, but use the hydrating cleanser and double repair moisturizer without issues. No7 skin paste (new product), the green label for soothing, seems ok as well.

Dandruff or dry scalp? Both flake but different. Neutrogena t/gel shampoo just on scalp to balance but not every wash.

Baby products adults can use, spf to washes/moisturizers due to their gentleness.

You'll need exfoliation for the bumps and hyperpigmentation. Doesn't need to be routinely. I use a Clarisonic type device with a soft brush head.

Product recommendations for sensitive skin

Hi @adss1230. We have very similar skin profiles, even with the same food allergies and dislike of BHAs (I think it's all related). And yes, given a dicey skin barrier, it's important to go slowly and gently. I've used .. not everything but quite a lot, and in the end, I come back to: First Aid Beauty, CeraVe, and Mustela. They just have the properties my skin needs with the feel I like: pH balance, moisture, and occlusion. -FAB Pure Skin Face Cleanser, FAB Ultra Repair Cream (=light to me). -CeraVe & Mustela various + Aveeno Baby, Cetaphil Eczema are nice in the shower. -REN, Jack Black, Boscia, Tatcha, and Elf face products have also been good to me for different uses. -- Otherwise, I have learned most "clean" products + 1/2 of K-Beauty are a no-go because of the botanicals. And Coconut anything is something to keep tabs on whether you react or break out to. Hope that's a start!

Re: Product recommendations for sensitive skin

I have been interested in trying out the First Aide brand for a few issues! I am hoping to learn more from the community about helpful products similar to the OP's skin type as well 🙂
