Power Couple by Sunday Riley

Just started this awesome duo. Trying to understand why you can followup a retinol product (luna) with lactic acid (good genes). The packing description says to use good genes 5 minutes after Luna but I thought mixing these two were a no no? Any other Sunday Riley fanatics?!

Re: Power Couple by Sunday Riley

@Sharpie90 Depending on the strength of the retinoid and Lactic acid as well as skin sensitivity. Retinol penetrates deeper into the skin and lactic is surface. It’s totally ok to mix. Sunday Riley adds other natural ingredients that counteract the drying effects of AHA/BHAs. If you are sensitive, I would use Luna at night and Good Genes as a mask for 15 min during the day. If not, load it up like I do. I apply Luna first then Good Genes sine I want the Retinol to penetrate my skin deeper. I wouldn’t necessarily say to stack prescription strength formulas, but it’s ok to. You may just end up dryer than usual.

Oh ok. That’s great! I have worked myself into using it every night and no irritation yet. I’m concerned I’m over using the products. I use about 3/4 full dropper for Luna and 2-3 Pumps of Good Genes.

Do you use moisturizer and eye cream after Luna & Good Genes? Or is the Power Couple duo enough on it’s on? I’m considering adding back the Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Eye concentrate and Overnight Mask to my routine. I love those products also and they are super anti-aging (black tea) and moisturizing!

Also, I use Boscia make up cleanser and then charcoal cleanser before applying Sunday’s RIley and usually wait an hour or so before applying the Sunday Riley. The charcoal cleanser has a minimal amount of glycolic acid and I read that it is fine to use with Retinol/Lactic Acid if you wait at least 30 minutes in between. I haven’t had any irritation and wait well over an hour before using Luna & Good Genes. I really love this cleanser and the glycolic acid & Charcoal really helps with acne, pores, and blackheads. Do you have any insight on using a face cleanser with a small trace of glycolic acid a couple hours in advance of retinol or lactic acid?

Thanks!!

I agree and thought the same thing, you’re not supposed to mix AHAs with retinoids is a recipe for redness and irritation. I also don’t understand fully what order the Luna oil should go in, usually you would leave oils for last, but apparently you’re supposed to put it before you’re moisturizer? I just use them separate, I’ll use the latic acid and use a different moisturizer and skip the Luna oil. I also got the clay face wash but it really irritated my skin. All around i think it’s way too expensive and confusing. I just got the latic acid. Serum from the ordinary. It’s so cheap and works really well, I think it’s sold out on Sephora last time I checked. I do like Sunday Riley I just think for the price you can get better or just as good products. I just got the CEO serum in my allure beauty box, excited to try that.
