Pores!

I have big pores on my nose, I’ve tried extractions (professionally) worked for a week. I exfoliate, nothing. I’ve heard trying salicylic acid works any thoughts on what I should use? I don’t know what to do I’ve tried everything they are starting to show on my chin and I use oil free products & all the right products!

Pores!

I am new to the whole group thing and reviewing and such. I've had the same problems for years. I saw results with TO Niacinamide 10%+Zinc IMMEDIATELY! I'm so impressed with my skin in just a week. Instant results though with that!

RE: Pores!

Try “peace out pores” it helped me to Minimize pores

Re: Pores!

@Morgiee15,

I highly recommend using a face wash with glycolic acid. It really helps keep the pores clean and also leaves your skin looking smooth. I also recommend the PTR pads and you can use them just on the nose area.

Re: Pores!

@Morgiee15 oil free typically means mineral oil free, which can clog. Oil isn't a bad thing, and actually regulates oil. Depending on the other ingredients, oil free products can be too drying, dehydrating the skin.

On the nose are sebaceous filaments. Natural oil blockage, which can only be temporarily removed. That's why they came back. Physical exfoliation won't help. A clay mask can help clear out gunk. ORIGINS - Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

Re: Pores!

@Morgiee15 AHAs/BHAs are good for pores because chemical exfoliants tend to be a bit gentler than physical ones (in low concentrations). They help promote faster cell turnover which keeps pores clear and won’t be over irritating. Fit a physical exfoliation in to your routine once or twice a week as tolerated.

An everyday product I have loved for my pores is CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Glycolic Brightening Essence. I use this after cleansing and before any serums or moisturizers. A couple nights a week I like using Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads. For physical exfoliation, once a week I use OLEHENRIKSEN - Pore-Balance™ Facial Sauna Scruband once a week I use PHILOSOPHY - The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel

Re: Pores!

@Morgiee15 Yes, salicylic acid, a BHA, is good for cleaning out your pores over time. Or a blend of AHA and BHA can help too, like DRUNK ELEPHANT - NightBright™ Duo

or a weekly strong AHA/BHA mask like Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial™ AHA + BHA Mask 1.69 oz/ 50 mLor The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% High-Strength Peeling Solution for Brightening 1 oz/ 30 mL

AHA exfoliates the skin while also helping BHA penetrate into your pores. Purging is common in the beginning. You can mix the Framboos and marula oil and start with a small amount once a week, then increase the frequency of use if your skin is ok with it. AHAs also increase the photosensitivity of your skin, so don't forget to wear sunscreen during the day if needed. And mositurize!

The size of your pores are usually genetic too, but they do increase in size if you're dehydrated or producing lots of oil, so keeping your skin hydrated could decrease their size. Ironically, oils can be good for you if you have dry oily skin since your skin could be over-producing oil to compensate for the dryness. Niacinamide like The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum for Oily Skin 1 oz/ 30 mL is good for oil control. I have combination skin but lean more towards oily and I love oils.

Oil cleansers can help with removing those sebaceous filaments (SFs). Massage the oil onto your skin, especially around the areas where you have SFs until you feel "grits" coming out. You can also follow it up with your regular cleanser to remove the oil. Some oil cleansers (and balms):

-TATCHA - Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser

-CLINIQUE Take The Day Off™ Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 3.8 oz/ 125 mL

^Good for removing makeup too. Melt between your fingers to melt the balm into an oil, and massage it into your face. Helps remove makeup and SFs. Best to follow it up with your regular cleanser.

-Hada Labo Gokujun Cleansing Oil

Try slowly incorporating a new product into your routine, just to watch for any reactions/irritations if your skin doesn't agree with the product.

Sorry this post feels kinda disorganized but

Tl;dr Oil cleanser + AHA/BHA/both + Niacinamide (if needed) + moisturize + sunscreen (if needed)
