Perioral Dermatitis reactions

I’ve had Perioral Dermatitis for almost 10 yrs now. And I’m in the midst of a bad flare up. I have been using only Murad and Drunk elephant products. Does anyone know if these products are safe for dermatitis? Or if maybe they’re to blame? Any tips or knowledge is appreciated !

Have you considered gluten intolerance? Skin manifestations are now better known to be gut related.

Re: Perioral Dermatitis reactions

I do believe that yeast/sugar play a huge role.  Bacteria feeds on sugar.  Probiotics, tea tree oil, and apple cider vinegar have been life savers for me.  I alternate using homemade toners.

Toner #1

- spring water & tea tree oil

Toner #2

- spring water & Braggs ACV

Re: Perioral Dermatitis reactions

I too suffer from POD.  I found Murad irritated my POD.  They have some harsh synthetic ingredients.  Drunk Elephant is good though:)

Try shopping under the tab for clean beauty.  Those products have the little leaf icon.  All of those products are natural and free of SLS, parabens, fragrance, etc.  You will find awesome brands like Boscia, Tata Harper, Sunday Riley, Drunk Elephant, etc that work well with POD.

Try using the following keywords in search when looking for products....

- soothing

- calming

- purifying

- refining

These products will have awesome ingredients like safflower, hyaluronic acid, squalane, sugar cane extract, tea tree oil, willow bark extract, licorice, aloe, green tea, calming essential oils, dry oils, light hydrators, mild exfoliants, etc.

Best of luck 🙂

Re: Perioral Dermatitis reactions

I feel your pain. I have occasional flare ups too. I find that Caudalie's Vinosource SOS serum really helps me out. I also like to cleanse with Fresh's Soy face cleanser during those times too.

DD's Calm, Cool, and Corrected line works great also, but the silicone in the cream do not agree with me when having a flare up. Dimethicone is a silicon that's listed pretty high on the ingredients list, so be careful.

If I'm very red/irritated, I like to use a Dr. Jart sheet mask. The Ceramidin or Vital Hydra ones are great and only $6.

Drink lots of water!

Hope this helps 🙂
