Paula’s choice BHA

Can i use paulas choice 2%BHA as an acne spot treatment?

Re: Paula’s choice BHA

@Fbum If you want to, you can.  There are some people who use BHA as a spot treatment.  I personally prefer using BHA pretty much all over my face b/c it helps keep blackheads away.  For a spot treatment for pimples, I prefer benzoyl peroxide which I get in a 10% concentration with Clean & Clear's Persa-gel.

Here's the beautypedia review for PC 2% BHA (I chose the liquid exfoliant, b/c it's the most popular; 4 oz for $29.50😞

Spoiler

Paula's Choice Skincare's SKIN PERFECTING 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant contains 2% salicylic acid (BHA) and has a pH that allows it to improve the appearance of uneven, dull skin showing signs of aging.

Better yet, its soothing formula helps calm redness, and is recommended for all skin types, including those who have stubborn, hard, white bumps, or even those with skin prone to milia. It may just be a game-changer for your stubborn skin concerns as it has been for so many other people who previously found nothing worked well, if at all.

PROS:
  • Smooths clogged pores, helps improve an uneven skin tone.
  • Liquid consistency suitable for all skin types.
  • Calms redness with soothing green tea.
CONS:
  • None.

Here's for the Persa-gel (5/5 stars; 1 oz for $6.49😞

Spoiler
Persa-Gel 10, Maximum Strength remains a very potent, fragrance-free topical disinfectant for blemishes. It contains 10% benzoyl peroxide, the maximum amount approved for over-the-counter sales. Although this amount can be drying and potentially irritating, this is an option for stubborn cases of acne.

Here's for the Versed Just Breathe Clarifying Serum (4/5 stars; 1 oz for $19.99😞

Spoiler

We’re impressed with Versed’s Just Breathe Clarifying Serum – a product designed for oily and combination skin that isn’t laden with irritants or alcohols, just good-for-skin ingredients.

Things start out on the right foot with this serum’s packaging – an opaque blue bottle with a dropper dispenser that protects its beneficial ingredients from light and air exposure. The serum is lightweight, easy to apply, and works well both over and under other skin care products.

Front and center among the ingredients is brightening and pore-refining niacinamide, plus soothing willow bark extract, horse chestnut, and a small amount of soothing licorice. There’s also hydrating zinc gluconate and sodium hyaluronate. True to Versed’s claims, these ingredients can work in tandem to calm inflammation, which can be a factor in triggering excess oil production.

There’s also some salicylic acid in this serum, which is the gold standard when it comes to exfoliating deep inside pores. However, Versed makes no claims regarding the salicylic acid on its website or its packaging, meaning it’s likely not in high enough amount to make those claims. Still, even in smaller amounts it can serve as a pH adjuster and have soothing and hydrating properties, so it’s good to see here.

Best of all, this is free of the fragrance and irritants so often seen in serums designed for oily skin, so that’s another positive to add to the list. The only reason it doesn’t snag our highest rating is that the formula would be better served with additional beneficial ingredients. Still, nice job, Versed!

PROS:
  • Serum texture is lightweight and easy to apply.
  • Contains a good amount of brightening and pore-refining niacinamide.
  • Includes soothing willow bark, horse chestnut, and licorice extracts.
  • Contains hydrating zinc gluconate and sodium hyaluronate.
  • Packaged to protect its light- and air-sensitive ingredients.
  • Fragrance free.
CONS:
  • Formula would be more impressive with additional beneficial ingredients

Thank you so much

Re: Paula’s choice BHA

Honestly I would just get the versed clarifying serum instead. It has amazing ingredients for clearing acne and it’s cheaper.
