Moisturizer

I am tired of trying to find the right moisturizer for my skin. I think I may have sensitive/ combo skin type. I tried Olay, Ren First Aid beauty face cream,  and Kate Somerville oil free face cream. All of them gave me a bad reaction. I don’t what it is that causes itchiness and break out. I need something that is hydrating (nothing thick) and prevents breakouts or clogged up pores. Help me!

RE: Moisturizer

Give Origins a try! I switched to them from DE and haven’t looked back. The GinZing moisturizer in the AM is fabulous! The oil-free night-a-mins does wonders at night too! Give it a try, took me a few days for my skin to adjust and now it’s loving it! Best of luck. 🙂

RE: Moisturizer

Thanks! I’ll look it up 🙂

RE: Moisturizer

I agree!! Origins is a great choice. You can feel the product actively moisturizing your skin upon application.

Re: Moisturizer

I had such issues with my skin.  I try new things because I like the different scents and I like products that make my skin feel dewy.  Everything would bother my skin....including water.  After spending thousands on different products, I went to a dermatologist.  Two different skin conditions- seborrheic dermatitis and rosacea.  The rosacea is being treated with an oral medication.  The dry, flaky skin from the seborrheic dermatitis is being treated with a little steroid cream, desonide.  The desonide cream, I am told, is now over the counter.  I cannot believe the difference.  Very little dryness.  No itchiness.

My recommendation is to not spend too much money before seeing a dermatologist!  I still struggle with finding the perfect products.  So far, I love strivectin- yellow and white container, oil of olay- serum and cream- the beauty fluid doesbt work well for me anymore, and estee Lauder- daywear is nice but the pink container is really nice and juicy on the skin.

As a cleanser, I struggle.  I can use estee Lauder face wash, perricone md gentle cleanser in the green bottle, and good old cetaphil cleanser.

Good luck!  I wish I had the answers.  I hope something I've said helps you! Xoxo

RE: Moisturizer

Clinique Moisture Surge 72 hour replenishing....is absolutely amazing...my skin literally drinks it. I have sensitive skin too- finally clear from acne and eczema and this stuff doesn’t make me break out. I apply this to wet skin and it made a major difference- nice and hydrated. It’s great under makeup too.

Re: Moisturizer

@Aqua01  If you haven’t compared the ingredient lists of those moisturizers you’ve tried  (the ones that irritated your skin) yet, take a look for any common ingredients. That’ll help you narrow down things that might make your skin angry. It’s how I learned I’m sensitive to certain ingredients, even before I asked a dermatologist about my reactions.

Are you sure moisturizer is the culprit and not, say, your cleanser, toner, serum(s), acid exfoliants (like AHA), or anything else you apply before moisturizer?

I have mostly dry skin all over my face, except my oily nose. I’m looking for a new daytime moisturizer that’s as lightweight as DR. JART+ - Water Fuse Ultimate Hydro Gel . Meanwhile, I’ve been using my nighttime moisturizer during the day as well: Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Lightweight Face Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid 2 oz / 59 m... . Neither of those irritate my skin, but my irritants may be different from yours. Be sure to patch test any new skincare item—including moisturizer—on your neck, jawline, chest, or even your wrist, before you apply it all over your face. I patch test for at least 2 weeks (longer if a product contains a bit of an ingredient I know I’m sensitive to).
