Minimize Pores

I’m looking for something to minimize my pores. Someone recommended not so much a primer as this process should be done through a skin care routine. I would love some recommendations on this! TIA

Minimize Pores

The two most effective ingredients for"shrinking" pore size are BHA (salicylic acid) and retinol. AHAs stay on the surface and improve overall texture, but BHA can actually penetrate oil and get into those pores to clear them out. There are tons of BHA products available, everything from the super affordable mask from The Ordinary to the much more luxe Super Mud from GlamGlow. A good (but not great) drugstore option is the Stridex pads in the red box, as they don't contain alcohol. Retinol/Retin-A also reduces pore size, but if you weren't already planning on adding that to your routine, it's a much more complex ingredient to incorporate into a routine due to purging, possible peeling, possible product interactions, etc. If it's within your budget, I've sampled the GlamGlow Super Mud, and it's pretty fantastic. You don't need to use it everyday to see quick results. But as it does contain activated charcoal, it can make a pretty big mess of your sink when you rinse it off!

Re: Minimize Pores

@AmberMcIntyre I recommend BHA. Paula's Choice has a number of formulations and strengths. I use the 2% BHA from her acne line.

Dr Dennis Gross Peel Pads are an absolute game changer when it comes to minimizing pores! I also enjoy Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C serum during the day to tighten & plump my face during the day

RE: Minimize Pores

Your pores may appear larger because theyre clogged. Try using exfoliators like AHAs and BHAs to clean them. Niacinamide is also a great ingredient to help minimize the appearance of pores. The ordinary has a great serum.

Re: Minimize Pores

@AmberMcIntyre There's nothing you can actually do to SHRINK your pores but you can definitely use skincare that will help minimize their appearance.  Niacinamide is a great skincare ingredient for this, especially.  Hope you can find a good solution that works for you!

Re: Minimize Pores

What's your skin type and current routine? Unfortunately oily skin has larger pores than normal or dry skin so you wouldn't be able to do much there but if your pores are large due to damage or improper skincare you can do some things to soften/minimize their appearance (you can't close a pore/make it disappear completely).

RE: Re: Minimize Pores

Combination to oily skin type. I do cleanse/tone and moisturize at night and then sometimes in the morning!
