Lactic Acid help

So I got a 7 day sample set of the Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid treatment. I've been using it for about four days now. the first two days it kind of tingled but not in a bad way. Last night when I put it on, it burned and itched so bad I almost couldn't stand it. Is this normal? is there a limit on how many days in a row I can use it? Also does anyone know of any other products/ingredients that shouldn't be used with this kind of treatment? thanks

@Chelseamay0104 have you used lactic acid before? If not, using it everyday might be a much for your skin -you've likely over exfoliated. In the future, if you decide to use a lactic acid, glycolic acid, or reitnol product, you should start with every 2-3 days and build up once your skin has adjusted

Ooh ok, no I haven't used it before. My daily cleanser says it's gentle exfoliating so it makes sense that I might have overdone it.

Re: Lactic Acid help

@Kim888 found the likely culprit, @Chelseamay0104, definitely sounds like overexfoliation. I did this to myself a few weeks ago and here's my recommendation. Hope your skin feels better soon!

First was a milky cleanser (no rubbing, gentle pats). I used PHILOSOPHY - Purity Made Simple Cleanser. Then patted my face dry, no rubbing. Then I used my beauty blender to dab on a Vitamin C serum OLEHENRIKSEN - Truth Serumยฎ Mini and a ceramide serum/cream DR. JART+ - Ceramidinโ„ข Cream and a moisturizer and SPF (so important!), I combined with the Origins Age Defense SPF. No make up on affected areas. Spritz throughout the day with refreshing mist KOPARI - Coconut Rose Toner

At night, gently pat clean with a micelle water and then a overnight sleep mask LANEIGE - Water Sleeping Mask. It's so frustrating but I did that for about a week and then went back to a normal morning routine. I'm still not using any actives really, slowly ramping in my retinol alternative. I'll probably try an exfoliator in a week or two, but going slow. Once every three days alternating with retinol and then as adjusting.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the detailed suggestions!...
