I really love DE. I had acne as a teen and oily, blackhead prone skin my whole life. I find using their products really helps keep my skin balanced most of the time. I like the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum with Hyaluronic Acid 1.69 oz/50 mland DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma™ Vitamin C Day Serum in the morning. I actually prefer the Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL in the morning and the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL at night, but only in the winter. I also prefer the DRUNK ELEPHANT - Shaba Complex™ Firming Eye Serum to the other eye cream. I find it better under makeup and it doesn't sting. I used their bar soap for years and since my last birthday have been using the Drunk Elephant Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL. I think it is better but I just got a small TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanserin a reward gift and it makes my skin feel really, really clean. I'm not sure if it is too much for every day, but I may buy a full size. As for Tacha's moisturizers, I find they have a scent, and I don't want scented products on my face. DE is expensive, but when you have suffered from acne for years, and find something that helps, you will pay for that thing.
Look up the products on beautypedia. I have found that combo skin girls should stay far, far away from DE or Tatcha. Almost all their products have comedones in them.
@isavfdz I completely agree with the other comments about getting either in-store samples or trial sizes of different items. For example, I like a couple of the DE products that I've tried but overall a lot of the range truly doesn't "work" well for me although obviously a LOT of people really love the entire line. The full sizes of everything is pretty pricey so it's a great idea to get minis if possible before "splurging" on full sizes of things that you may or may not like.
I would try getting "the littles" from Drunk Elephant first if you're going to try the brand out. I thought I would love the brand so I bought this kit and realized it was making me break out. Not sure exactly which product was doing it, but I used the whole kit for about 2 months and as soon as I stopped my acne cleared up. The kit is $90 and it's a sample of a lot of the popular products so I'm definitely glad I tried this instead of buying a full size product. I do still use their jelly face cleanser though and I love it.
Their products contain coconut alkenes or macula oil, known comedones. Most of their products will break you out if you are prone, except for baby facial.
It would probably be a good idea to try out the cheapest option of Marula oil from Drunk Elephant and the travel sized cleansing oil from Tatcha to see if either of those cause you any issues before you even consider handing over a wad of cash.
For my skin, personally, I do think that buying the Indigo cream from Tatcha (on sale because I'm not made of money) is worth it. If I could afford their Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream I would definitely buy it for use in the winter months - I've actually set that as my weight-loss goal reward to buy in the November sales if I make my target.
Otherwise, generally, I think you can probably pick up products that work just as well for half or even a third of the price by looking into other brands.
I loooove all of the DE products I've tried. That being said, if you're just going to get one product (looking for best bang for your buck), get the Protini Polypeptide Cream. It makes my skin feel amazing. It's worked for all of my siblings and friends with different skin types who have tried it. It's lightweight and absorbs quickly and really makes my skin feel softer and more moisturized.
Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL
@isavfdz these are my 2 fav brands! My fav products are TATCHA - The Water Cream TATCHA - The Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser TATCHA - The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powderis great for exfoliating every day. I also use DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serumit works good to unclog pores and make them look smaller. DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma™ Day Serumaand I use DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro™ Whipped Creamtthese are all items I can’t live without. I’ve tried other products but these are worth the money!!
Tatcha and DE are nice splurges, as in they'll usually be pretty effective but you don't NEED to go that expensive. You could do some research and find great less expensive alternatives but if you're interested in testing the waters with these two, for your skin type I would suggest the Tatcha Deep Cleanse and the DE protini polypeptide cream as a cleanser and a moisturizer. Great for unclogging pores without stripping the skin and then giving some nice moisture thats not too heavy.
@isavfdz It totally depend on how your skin react to the products from these brands. I know Drunk elephant is HG brand for many but personally for me their products do nothing for my skin. I have a much better experience with Tatcha products. Nothing life changing but they perform moderately good and feel luxurious.
I'm not able to comment on DE products but as for Tatcha i've tried a few of their products but I've only re-purchased the Violet C mask over multiple times.
personally i do feel it improves the brightness of my face, also i notice it makes a huge difference when my face has broken out to bring down the redness.TATCHA - Violet-C Radiance Mask
I love Drunk Elephant and use everything now. Started using some products 3 or so years ago. I love the founder's philosophy. I love the idea of 7-skin method and all the K-Beauty (bought few essences) but then realized it's not practical for me, those products mostly just sit here. I have never in my life spent more than 2 min on getting ready after shower so starting now is hard. I love the fact that with DE product, I can mix everything and apply and I am done in 1 min.
@isavfdz I'm a DE fan personally. I've tried both brands and something about Tatcha is just too rich for my skin. I love DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream, Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL, DRUNK ELEPHANT - Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum, Drunk Elephant Protini™ Polypeptide Firming Refillable Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL.
@isavfdz Drunk Elephant is definitely worth it! My favorites are the C-Firma, B-Hydra, and Lala Retro for morning and TLC Framboos, Marula oil, and Protini for evening. I have both eye creams but I like Shaba better than C-Tango.
