I need help with a scar

Hi all,

I'm new and I'm trying to get some advice on something for facial scars. It's a years old scar from an injury, so I'm realistic that I'm basically stuck with it, but it's quite large and I didn't realize how obvious it was until I saw my recent wedding pics. Obviously my wife is not bothered by it, but it knocked my confidence. My beard growing skills suck so I can't just cover it the easy way. If anyone has some recommendations for something that may lighten it or make it a bit smoother I'd appreciate it. Just in case anyone sees this, I work outside in middle Tennessee weather and sun, and I currently use Youth To The People Antoxidant Cleanser and their Superfood Airwhip Moisturizer at the suggestion of my wife incase that is some info you need. Thanks in advance.

Re: I need help with a scar

@HVACNick definitely incorporate sunscreen and a hat into your routine. The sun can darken scars, plus it's a good habit to prevent skin aging. I would suggest consulting with a dermatologist if you're able, they might be able to recommend a treatment (something they can do at the office such as laser) and products you can try at home. In the mean time, you can try microneedling with a dermaroller. It's supposed to increase collagen production, which can help scarring. It can also help skincare products absorb better. You can pair it with a hydrating serum and then moisturizer. You can start incorporating a retinol product once or twice a week at night (start slow and build up with this one, they have percentages, so less is more in the beginning). Hope this helps!
