I am a young teenage girl who is look for a simple skincare routine. I think I'm going to you Bubble Hydrating Slam Dunk moisturizer. I don't know anything about skincare if I should use a toner or what. Please tell me what I should use that is affordable
I love the glow recipe watermelon toner💖
Hey girl! So I’m also a young teenage girl so i definitely know what’s up. So I used to be pretty much the same as you and have difficulty finding a good routine that’s affordable, but I now have a great routine. I know that what I typed up is a lot but please please please read it all!! 🩷
First you need a good cleanser. Now you don’t need to spend a lot on a cleanser but a great option is the cereva hydrating cleanser. I use this and it’s so so so good! It also removes all your makeup. You will love it if you have dry or combination skin. Although if you have oily skin try the acne foam one.
Next toner. Now I know that a lot of people recommend the glow recipe toner but personally I wouldn’t use it because it’s scented which can irritate sensitive skin. It’s also not very friendly to acne prone skin. Now the toner I do recommend is the ordinary MILK toner. (There’s 2 different ones lol get the milk one ☝️) it’s super gentle and hydrating and won’t strip your skin. Now if you are just starting out using a toner then you might want to slowing start including it into your routine. (Like use it 2 times a week then 3 times until you eventually can use it everyday.) The Ordinary Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner for Gentle Exfoliation and Hydration 3.4 oz / 100...
Next this step it very optional but if you have ance you might want to use some sort of serum. The The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum with Ceramides is great for all skin types.
Another optional step is a face mist. A face mist is to give your face an extra boost of hydration I like the Caudalie Grape Water Moisturizing Face Mist
And the bubble bounce back facial mist.
Now it’s moisturizer. I really like the bubble one. There is three different types for each skin type, super moisturizing, and affordable.
Now is a surprisingly important step during the summer. Sunscreen! Even if you don’t burn it’s still a good idea to but some sunscreen on. Nobody wants skin cancer! I really like the Hawaiian tropic sunscreen. It gives my face a nice glow too!
lastly something for your lips. Vaseline and Aquafor are very good choices. If you want to splurge tho the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm Treatment for Hydration + Nourishing Shine Pink Sugar - sheer light p... and OLEHENRIKSEN Pout Preserve Hydrating Peptide Lip Treatment Strawberry Sorbet - mauve pink tint + fre... are good options.
Okays that’s it I really hope this helped. This took forever to do!! lemme know If you need anymore help with skincare!!🩷🩷
Thank you so much!!! If there is products you recommend from Ulta or really anywhere else would you please tell me. Thanks again

#1 skincare product you need is sunscreen. I promise you, your future self will thank you! I wish I started younger and really knew more about sun damage. It will make all the difference in your skin if you take care of it starting at a young age. Everyday, rain or shine and reapply every 2 hours. I cannot emphasize sunscreen and its importance.
Hey try glow recipe I think it'd be a perfect match for you!
I would use the bubble spray it is a toner, it’s feels nice. Have you thought about maybe glow recipe?
I've heard glow recipe isn't good for young skin is that true?
Well glow recipe isn’t bad for kids but there are a lot of items they have that aren’t good for young skin. (Such as most of their serums) but I’m not saying that their products don’t work for kids but you might want to stick to a more affordable brand where their products are made for adults and kids, such as bubble, byoma, ect.
I used toner as a young woman, but even when my skin was oilier and I tended to break out I stopped using it. The 2 most important products for your face are cleanser and SPF. I use #KoraOrganics Turmeric Brightening & Exfoliating Mask as an everyday cleanser. It doesn’t damage my skin even though I’m 66 years old. Sometimes I use it with my small #Foreo.
I prefer to use SPFs that don’t damage ocean reefs. I like the #Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen.
Moisturizers are important, too, even if you break out. Right now I use #CharlotteTilburys Magic Cream, but I switch from time to time. I do love Biossance Mini Omega Repair Deep Hydration Moisturizer + Squalane 0.5 oz / 15 mL, probably a larger size though!
You might want to consider using a retinol serum at night. I have a prescription for tretinoin, so cannot recommend any.
@hellohowru Welcome to the world of skincare! A good routine at any age can be as simple as this:
I left toner out of that list because it’s not a necessary skincare step for many people. For now, get your skin used to that routine up there. If you find your skin seems to need a little help—maybe it feels very dry and flaky in some places, or you start getting acne, or you notice lots of redness that won’t go away, etc.—then you can think about adding more products to that routine: insert a “treatment” step between cleanser and moisturizer, and look for products with ingredients that’ll address your skin’s needs. Always build your skincare routine around what your particular skin needs, not what products are trending anywhere or what influencers claim you should buy. We don’t all have the same skin, so beyond the basics of wash, moisturize, and sunscreen, we don’t need the same products/steps.
Thank you so much!
@hellohowru I personally would say that toner is not a necessary skincare step for everyone. I do like to use a toner myself, but if you are looking to save some money and time with your routine, you don't really need it. Especially if you are just starting out and are on a budget, I would recommend focusing on the basics, at least at first.
The most important steps for a skincare routine are:
1. cleanse
2. treat (i.e. serum) - this step is for targeting specific skincare concerns you may have, like acne, redness, etc.
3. moisturize
and don't forget 4. sunscreen! (in the morning)
As for what specific products to use, that really depends on your skin type and concerns - I can't really recommend any specific products without knowing more info. Someone with oily skin would benefit from different products than someone with dry skin, and so on. I do think in general Bubble is a good and affordable brand with good products for teens, so that may be a good place to start. Especially for a young teen, you can find some great quality and affordable products at the drugstore, you really don't need to spend a ton of money on "prestige" brands.
Hope this helps, and feel free to tag me with any questions!
Use not you sorry!
Thanks! What do you recommend
