Hyper-Pigmentation

Does anyone have suggestions on products that reduce hyperpigmentation on the face? I have a few areas that are a lot darker due to a plethora of reasons & am looking for something to help reduce this. Thanks!

Re: Hyper-Pigmentation

I get dark spots on my neck/throat area that looks like hickies, I've been using neutrogena's rapid tone repair for years and it evened my skin out.

Re: Hyper-Pigmentation

Hyperpigmentation was my primary complaint on a recent visit to my local sephora store.  The individual who assisted me set me up with First Aid Beauty.  I believe the hyaluronic acid and AHA serums are the most helpful for hyperpigmentation but I put my entire regimen below.  The pictures show my cheek in the 7 weeks I was using FAB.  It has helped some but not a lot.  I have recently decided to switch to Shiseido's white lucent micro targeting spot corrector after reading reviews that said they have a formulation that has small molecules that penetrates the skin better.  I am also on the hunt for a better AHA serum.  My full regimen is as follows:

Morning:

  1. Cleanse (First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser)
  2. Exfoliate (Cane + Austin Miracle Pad)
  3. Hyaluronic Acid Serum for hyperpigmentation (Shiseido White Lucent Micro Targeting Spot Corrector)
  4. AHA Serum (First Aid Beauty Resurfacing Liquid)
  5. Moisturizer (Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 18)
  6. ByeBye Under Eye Eye Cream
  7. Marc Jacobs Under(cover) perfecting coconut face primer

Evening:

  1. Cleanse (First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser)
  2. Exfoliate (Cane + Austin Miracle Pad)
  3. Hyaluronic Acid Serum for hyperpigmentation (Shiseido White Lucent Micro Targeting Spot Corrector)
  4. Retinol serum (First Aid Beauty Skin Lab)
  5. Night Moisturizer (Shiseido White Lucent MultiBright night cream)
  6. Crème de Rose smoothing plumping lip balm

Re: Hyper-Pigmentation

The difference is remarkable! I'm going to try out some of the products you've mentioned.

Clarisonic all the way!

yes

The Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (https://www.sephora.com/product/clearly-corrective-dark-spot-solution-P422022?skuId=1989474&keyword=...) does wonders!

Yes, it's pricey. But YES, it works. A little goes a long way. I've noticed stubborn hyper pigmentation and dark spots evening out over the last few weeks. As well, skin texture is refining.

YES! I had a bad breakout from a product I used once, and ended up with almost cycstic-like acne. When I stopped using the offending product, the breakouts went away, but dark spots were left behind. Kieh's  Dark Spot Corrector worked like a charm!

@Tara5484

For hyperpigmentation, there are usually two sets of ingredients that help.

First there are AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids, like glycolic, lactic, or citric acid, for example). These are chemical exfoliators: they loosen older skin cells and promote quicker cell turnover, thus fading scarring faster.

And second there's chemicals that inhibit pigment in the skin by messing with melanin synthesis. (Sometimes (unfortunately) called "whitening agents".)

My personal recommendation is La Roche-Posay's Pigmentclar products (which has both of the above).

Note that both of these ingredients will temporarily decrease your skin's sun tolerance, and should be used along with SPF.

Re: Hyper-Pigmentation

I just asked this same question, lol. Guess I should have looked through first. I used Cliniques clinical dark spot corrector for a long time and it worked great, but recently I feel like I need something stronger 😞 It may work for you!!

Re: Hyper-Pigmentation

I would whole heartedly recommend trying out Dr. Jart products especially the tiger grass cream!
