How to mix and match acids

Hi everyone, I'm trying to figure out how/when to used acids on my face to combat my taxtured skin. I just recently went acid crazy and purchased a bunch of different product while the sale was going on. A little background: I have acne prone, dry skin that will break out immediately if the product doesnt agree with my skin. The prodicts I'm currently using are: 1. Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial (once a week) 2. Peter Thomas Roth Peptide 21 Amino Acid Exfoliating Peel Pads (at night - cut in half to prolong the use) 3. Glamglow SUPERTONER Exfoliating Acid Solution Toner (morning - sample that I'm using until my other toners come) The products I have purchased are below: 1. Ole Henriksen Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner 2. Glow Recipe Watermelon PHA & BHA Pore Toner 3. Glow Rexipe Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask 4. Glow Recipe Watermelon AHA Sleeping Mask My question is, is there a way to safely use these products in rotation to get the best skin without burns and such?

Re: How to mix and match acids

@Jay2869 That's surely a lot of acids. 😉

I don't think you need that many acid products to get the best skin, just some patience but I hope all of these work great for you.

I agree with @haleyvvvv - a lot of good advice there. Start slowly & maybe add one product at a time to see how your skin reacts, esp. when it is so fast to react - give it some time to get used to the new products & when you know all of them agree with your skin using them in rotation should be fine. Just don't overdo it. 😉

I also like to keep some calming, hydrating & soothing products in my routine with acids & retinol - so, don't forget the hydration. It's important for great skin as well. 😉

Btw. the GlowRecipe toner is great (apart from the smell).

Thank you @CoffeeWuff. I should've mentioned I wasn't going to use these all at once and I bought them to sample since we cant physically go and get samples from the store at the moment. But I'll pose the same question I asked the other angel that answered my question: do you think its ok to use one of the toners in the morning and another at night? And I know to moisturize, that's all I've been doing since I found out I have dry skin. I just ordered the Marula Oil from Drunk Elephant because I used the sample that came with the BabyFacial and I love the moisture it gives my skin. Thanks for your advice!!

@Jay2869

If your skin is fine with it, I would say you can use one morning & the other at night. The GlowRecipe one is more gentle & nicely hydrating, so I would assume it is great for your skin. I don't know about the Ole one, though, I never tried it - the fragrance content in it is rather high, so maybe be a bit more careful with that one. 😉

I hope your skin likes all the new products. I guess, as soon as you know your skin is fine with both toners you can go ahead & test whether day & night is fine as well. Maybe use a different toner when following with the retinol or the watermelon mask, though, so it isn't too much at once. In the end, it really all depends on how your skin reacts.

Hope that helps a bit.

Re: How to mix and match acids

Oh gosh, that's a lot of acids, @Jay2869. If you're already handling the daily Glamglow acid toner in the morning and the PTR pads at night and you haven't had any negative reactions, then you could swap some of these with your new hauls, but I wouldn't add them all together.

You could use either of your new toners in place of your morning toner. Make sure to patch test, and start off every other day or every few days to start (they might be different concentrations than what you're currently using).

The Glow Recipe watermelon mask could be swapped out for your peel pads. Again, patch test and start slow.

You might be able to use the retinol on the same night as other acids. However, you need to start slow, using it alternating nights with your acids. Once or twice a week to start.

Please watch your skin closely, coming back from overexfolkation is a long and annoying process. Make sure your moisturizing and using SPF (all day, everyday).

It would also be a great idea to talk to a derm, even digitally if you can. Good luck!!

@haleyvvv thanks for the insight, I planned on swapping out the Glamglow sample for one of the others. I should've put that I bought all of this stuff to sample, as we cant go into the stores to get samples LOL. Another question for you: do you thinks its ok to use one toner at nighy and another in the morning or is that too much?

Re: @haleyvvv thanks for the insight, I planned on swapping o...

@Jay2869 Its up to your skin. You're already using an exfoliator at both morning and night, so I wouldn't use an exfoliating toner at night as well, unless it was in place of the other exfoliator.
