Homemade vs storebought exfoliants?

I drink a lot of green tea so when i finish a cup i keep the bag and use the leaves to mix with sugar and sometimes honey to use as a weekly exfoliant or a lip scrub. Has anyone tried both homemade and a storebought and found major differences? If so - what products have worked for you? If not - what do you make your exfoliants out of?

In my experience homemade scrubs have really inconsistent granuales which can cause uneven exfoliation. I really like Skinfood Black sugar mask

Re: Homemade vs storebought exfoliants?

Dermalogica exfoliant is a chemical exfoliant verses like a sugar or salt scrub. I like it, does the trick. Adult acne, so like a lush scrub will break me out terribly(I was bummed) and not exfoliating causes me acne too. I'd recommend it.

have you tried any of their other products? I've heard great things from their line

Yes, the ultracalming cleanser is awesome too.

I have a lip scrub from Lush, and I really like the fun, candy flavored scrub. But, before I bought it, I always used brown sugar and honey as a lip scrub. Honestly, when it comes to lip scrubs, I see no difference between store bought and DIY.

So far the only difference I've noticed is the taste too. They do more or less the same thing in my opinion but i wanted to see where everyone else stood on the matter lol
