Help!! Face oils?

I really want to start using oils for moisturizer on my face, but I'm a little hesitant. I've done research on Pinterest for which oils are good for oily/combination skin, but I have this fear that I'll break out! My skin isn't super sensitive, and I don't normally break out, but that fear is still there. I've been using a sample of Tarte's Maracuja oil and haven't broken out yet! I love the glow it gives when mixed with my CC cream. Any of you out there have experiences with facial oils? What do you recommend?

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I LOVE the Josie Maran SPF 44 with tint. I use it daily with oily skin in Florida. No breakouts and as long as I touch up with the Supergoop powder- no shine or sunburn.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Tatcha Camellia Gold beauty oil. It is a splurge (~$100), but you only need a few drops per use for your face. It is so luxurious, moisturizing, and nourishing for my relatively sensitive, blemish-prone skin. This is my Holy Grail product and I will never be without it on my vanity! Try it 🙂

RE: Help!! Face oils?

Okay, my experience with oils and oily skin (which I have): Good oils: Origins Night-a-mins oil (my fav) Sunday Riley UFO oil Okay oils: Korres Vitamin C Rose Oil (I mixed it with foundation) Bad oils: Anything Josie Maran (I SO wanted to love it) Fresh Seaberry oil (also wanted to love it) Basically, the lighter the oil, or, the less 'oily' the oil is, it'll work better with oily skin and not further clog your pores.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I have always loved the Josie Marian Light Argan Oil when I'm sensitive and breakout prone, but not the original.

Re: Help!! Face oils?

Hi, I suggest you look for a "dry" oil which means the molecules are small enough to actually penetrate the skin rather than sitting on the surface. One suggestion is a rosehip oil. Trilogy is a great organic brand from New Zealand that has an entire face line built around it. I've found it at Whole Foods and Trilogy does have a website you can order from as well. Josie Maran makes a light version of her argan oil that's great. I do also really like tarte's maracuja oil as you have tried. If you buy a larger size of it just keep it in a cool dark place so it doesn't deteriorate from heat exposure. One thing to keep in mind with natural products. Also check out Bobbi Brown; her no. 75 oil you may like. Also, regular exfoliation alllows all products to be better absorbed by the skin. Good luck!

I used to use Tarte too but I found Algenist. It's in a good bottle and amazing! I use so little and it lasts. It's a bit more that Tarte but it lasts a lot longer. My first bottle lasted almost 11 months. I strongly recommend this oil. You can always ask for a mini facial or a sample to see how it works with your skin!

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I am obsessed with Biossance Squalane Vitamin C Rose Oil, Fresh Seaberry Oil and Kora Organics Noni Glow Oil. All three have been fabulous for different reasons and have gotten me hooked on adding oils into my everyday beauty regime.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I really recommend the farsali rose gold elixer

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I highly recommend Leanne Grace. Her beauty oil serum/oil has done wonders for a bunch of people with different skin types.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I'd look for some on amazon, much cheaper and usually more organic

RE: Help!! Face oils?

Tarte Maracuja Oil is my absolute favorite. Sometimes I use only that, not even mixed with moisturizer, and it feels divine. Sinks in and makeup goes on perfectly.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

Though pricey, Korres makes a beautiful Vit C Brightening oil. It is a dry oil, so it won't make you too greasy. The Noni glow Oil is just as amazing, but again it is pricey. I am currently using Aromatica Rose Hip Oil, and I love it. I use it as a serum and see a different. A staple I have but don't use every day is Tarte's Maracuja Oil. Sometimes, I'll blend it with what ever oil I'm using. I hope you find what you are looking for!

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I'm a big fan of Korres products! Maybe I will give that one a try!

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I love the one from Drunk Elephant and love love love the one from SK2 but that one breaks my bank 😞 Both are good but I feel the SK2 oil is lighter and absorbs faster on my skin. I have dry skin so those work for me. Make sure you research and see what works for your skin type.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

Oils will not make you break out because as you put oil on your skin your skin won't produce as much oil. It's a wonderful way to moisturizerize or use as an additive/serum. Don't be afraid and try more. Make sure you look at what type of skin it's for and you should be fine.

Re: Help!! Face oils?

Grab some face oils from the body shop. It is ama I guess and it's smooth serum with brighten your makeup. Plus mix it with your foundation and get a smooth application all over the face.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I've been wanting to try that Tarte oil! I was wondering how you use it like what are the steps to your skincare routine???

RE: Help!! Face oils?

So after I wash my face, I use Jurlique rose water toner, and then I put two drops of the Maracuja oil in my hands and rub on my face. If it's before work, I mix one drop with my CC cream and rub it together. It actually blends very nicely with the CC cream, I prefer a dewy look, and it doesn't make you look oily.

I have the same skin type and loved U.F.O by Sunday Riley...

I have the same skin type and loved U.F.O by Sunday Riley. It was super effective against breakouts. I used it up until becoming pregnant as unfortunately most of her line is not baby safe 😓 but that's common with products directed at oily skin.

RE: Help!! Face oils?

I really like Herbivore Lapis Oil. I used to break out out a ton and I actually felt like the Lapis oil helped with getting rid of my acne. I am now taking acne medicine that is extremely drying to my skin. However, the Lapis oil helps soothes and hydrates it. It is a little pricy, but a little goes a long way. I understand your fear of breaking out, but I strongly suggest herbivore Lapis oil 🙂
