Gua Sha

Hi!
I wanted to start using a Gua Sha, but I’m torn between the different type (rose quartz, Jade, amethyst or Bain stone) and the different shapes (some have a heart, others have more bumps).

Also I was curious when I should put it into my skin care routine.

Should I put it after I cleanse and before all my treatments and serums?

Also if anyone can recommend a good oil that would be great!

Sorry if this is a lot hahah

Re: Gua Sha

Hey Beautiful, What's Good?

I would recommend you do some research on materials, specifically looking into which can be disinfected the easiest (in your opinion). When I first started my gua sha journey I bought a beautiful - and some what pricy - jade set. Little did I know then that jade is porous. This means that that it is like a sponge, or even our skin, and it has pores that we cannot feel or see all over it. But what can find these pores are bacterias and the impurities we don't want to be rubbing on your skin regularly. What is better is that once I realized my jade tools were making me breakout and I looked into disinfecting them I learned you don't want to be boiling jade all the time like you would need to do to regularly clean your tools.

Don't make my mistake and pick a pretty tool. Pick one you find easy to disinfect and thats not pricy because oil is slippery and you know novice me dropped a pretty gua sha tool and had to look at my floor heart broken.

Good luck on your skincare journey, girly!

Gua sha is best done after both cleansing the face and applying a moisturizer or facial oil

For oils I use The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL  and Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Oil with Squalane and Antioxidants 1 oz / 30 ml  It really depends on skin type and purpose.  I have dry/combo skin and these work for me.

Re: Gua Sha

Thank you so much!

In the morning I cleanse then use ordinary niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, hyaluronic acid, eye cream and my moisturizer. So I should then gua sha with the oil after all that?

Re: Gua Sha

@KaitlynTo Gua Sha after oil.

Re: Gua Sha

Yes Do gua sha at the end of your skincare routine, and I would recommend using a carrier oil.

There oils are either fat soluble or water soluble. Water soluble oils only sink into the top layer of skin cells of the epidermis. However, fat soluble oils penetrate the fatty tissue holding these skin cells together thus allowing the product to penetrate, or be carried, deeper by your skin. Examples of carrier oils are Vitamin E Oil, Merula Oil, and Sweet Almond Oil. Again just head over to your local pharmacy to get a carrier oil or even stop and shop. Sephora has bougie expensive ones but extra virgin oil is extra virgin oil.
