Favourite Eye Creams?

Hello my fellow skincare junkies!

Wondering what your current favourite or go to eye creams are...

I have fair, dry and acne prone skin. I have dark circles under my eyes and sometimes wakeup with some puffiness. Looking forward to your recommendations!

S

RE: Favourite Eye Creams?

Idk that this is available at Sephora but the GIVENCHY BEAUTY Hydra Sparkling Icy Eye-Reviver Gel (I get it on net-a-porter) is my favorite for under eye puffiness, it’s more cooling and imho effective than theMILK cooling water, I have sensitive under eye skin so there is some mild tingling but no other side effect. I also like the révive eye moisturizer but that’s gonna be major $$$ and only available at like Neiman Marcus.

RE: Favourite Eye Creams?

There are only 3 eye creams that don’t irritate my extremely sensitive/milia-prone skin Claudale Lift Shiseido Ultimune eye serum Origins Ginzing eye cream I’d give those a try, especially the Shiseido, and it’s supposed to “boost” the immunity of your skin. Good luck!!

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

@Boudreau  My skin issues are a bit different from yours, so my favorite undereye products might not work well for you. My undereyes are very dry, but I also have very textured tear troughs and lines (fine and deep; I’ve earned those lines with 48 years of smiles and laughter!). My undereye darkness is caused by hollow troughs/sunken skin and, occasionally, allergies and/or lack of sleep. [EDIT: sunken skin darkness can’t be fixed with a topical product; I’d need a dermal filler for that. For allergies, I usually pop an antihistamine anyway; this can reduce pressure that causes that allergy darkness, though sometimes I also get “allergy shiners” by simply rubbing my eyes too much.]

Here’s what I use on my eye area after a hydrating cleanser:

AM

  • Elf Hydrating Water Essence - apply to my whole face, including under and around my eyes. This stuff is very hydrating and moisturizing, and it contains niacinamide. Its only con is a bit of added fragrance, but so far that hasn’t irritated my skin at all.

  • FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry - apply to whole face, including my undereyes. Another hydration boost, thanks to lots of hyaluronic acid, and of course brightening via vitamin C.

  • HERBIVORE - Emerald CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil, elf Nourishing Facial Oil, or Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Oil with Squalane and Antioxidants 1 oz / 30 ml - I use the Emerald CBD oil most often lately, but occasionally rotate between all 3 oils. Even if I don’t use an oil on my whole face (I’ve been doing that regularly now that the weather’s cold), I pat a thin layer under my eyes. I usually give it a minute or 2 to sink in and then apply a second thin layer of oil.

  • Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Lightweight Face Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid 2 oz / 59 mL - apply to whole face, including my undereyes. If that skin’s still not moisturized enough after one layer of this, I apply 2 layers under my eyes. Or sometimes I’ll apply a single layer of facial oil and 2 or 3 layers of this cream moisturizer.

  • SUPERGOOP! - Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 - this is the only sunscreen I apply around my eyes. It doesn’t require nearly as much rubbing as a physical/mineral sunscreen, it’s completely invisible, and it doesn’t hurt my eyes. Even if I use a different sunscreen on the rest of my face, Unseen Sunscreen goes all around my orbital bone and eyelids.

PM

  • Exfoliation: on some of the nights when I don’t use a retinol serum on the rest of my face (I use The Inkey List Retinol every other night but always keep it off my eye area for now), I apply either Paula’s Choice Clear Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution (regular strength 2% BHA) or FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Resurfacing Liquid 10% AHA. I try to restrict the AHA to just my bumpy tear troughs, but the BHA exfoliant can go on my entire undereye area with no irritation.
  • Elf Hydrating Water Essence.

  • DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum - I saw further down this thread that you don’t want retinol. But since I’m listing my favorite eye products, I gotta include this. 🙂 I use it every night. I used to have dark circles caused by sun damage—because I didn’t regularly use sunscreen until my 30s. This DDG serum knocked out that sun damage darkness within 3 months of consistent use. It also helps firm up my crepey undereye skin a bit.

Another good and retinol-free option is THE ORDINARY - Buffet serum. Buffet provides a major peptides boost, plus a good shot of hyaluronic acid.

  • Facial oil: one of the 3 earlier mentioned oils, or sometimes I’ll use The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for Skin Elascicity 1 oz/ 30 mL instead.

  • YTTP Superfood Moisturizer.

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

Hi @WinglessOne thank you so very much for such a detailed reply to my question! I appreciate your note that we have different skin types, but I still am interested in a number of products you mentioned! Specifically, Youth to the People, Farmacy Cherry (hearing alot of mixed reviews about this one) and Dr. Dennis. Unfortunately, the Ordinary for me is not a good match - it destroyed my skin in the few short days I used it.....anything with retinol i'm trying to avoid as i've heard once you start, you really can't stop. Thank you again!!!

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

I’ve tried so many eye creams, Philosophy, Origins, Algenist, FAB just to name a few. But I keep going back to DERMA-DOCTOR - Wrinkle Revenge Eye Balm it’s safe to use on your entire eye area, very silky, non-irritating and keeps me moisturized without being greasy. I’ve been using it for years and just can’t find anything I like better. Right now I’m using DE Shaba Complex Firming Serum under it. I can’t say much about that yet because I only started using the DE serum a week ago, nothing negative yet.

Favourite Eye Creams?

I don't think this is available at Sephora, but the Klairs Eye Awakening Serum that just came out hits all the bullet points you listed. Klairs, a lot like Drunk Elephant, formulates their products for very sensitive skin, so it's gentle. It's super slick and spreadable and I super recommend.

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

ooooo thank you @PalestShade i'll give this a look for sure!!

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

@Boudreau  My fav eye cream is SHISEIDO - Benefiance Wrinkle Smoothing Eye Cream helps keep my fine lines at bay! And I use SHISEIDO - White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream for my dark circles! And I also use MILK MAKEUP Cooling Water Solid Gel Under-Eye Stick with Caffeine 1 oz / 30 g to bring puffyness down!

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

Thanks very @ather i'll give those a look 🙂

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

oooooo I've never heard of The INKEY List Caffeine De-puffing + Dark Circle Eye Cream 15 ml - is this a new brand to Sephora? Thanks so much @faeriegirl

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

@Boudreau  I believe the brand launched at Sephora last April. The eye cream is great for puffiness. I like to keep it in a mini fridge and it feels nice and refreshing.

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

@Boudreau I use Drunk Elephant C-Tango™ Vitamin C Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mLand ORIGINS - GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff at night I use LANEIGE - Eye Sleeping Maskor The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Depuffing Eye Serum for Dark Circles 1 oz/ 30 mL

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

Hi @SportyGirly125 thanks very much!

I'll check out Drunk Elephant C-Tango™ Vitamin C Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mL for day and LANEIGE - Eye Sleeping Mask. Unfortunately the ORIGINS - GinZing™ Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuffdid nothing for me after using it for more than three months straight and i'm so sad to say that my skin does not like anything from The Ordinary line.

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

I like the Dr. Dennis Gross serum mentioned below for anti-aging benefits. But my undereye area tends to get dry, so I love the super hydrating FARMACY - Dew It All Total Eye Cream.

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

Thanks @txcatx !!! I'll make sure to check it out both of those. Might steer clear from Dr. Dennis Gross serum though as I believe it has retinol in it and i'd like to avoid using products with retinol in them as i've heard that once you start, you can't stop. Thanks again!

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

I've really been living for the DR. DENNIS GROSS SKINCARE - Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye SerumFARMACY - Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherry @Boudreau

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

Thanks so much @lmaster !

I've been really curious about Farmacy's new cherry eye balm as i've heard alot of mixed reviews....How long have you been using it? Have you found it has made a difference in moisture and under eye brightness? The Dr. Dennis product i'm less inclined to try as i'd like to stay away from anything with retinol it the ingredients list. Thanks again!

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?

@Boudreau oh my gosh, I've been loving everything from the cherry line, and this FARMACY - Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherryis no exception!! I've been using it for over 2 straight weeks and it does a great job at both hydrating and brightening, the cherry scent is unbelievable! The texture of the eye cream is like a whipped cream

Re: Favourite Eye Creams?
